Re: Nice Win Today!
Had to listen on the radio while doing my three-mile walk. Missed being in the stands in person. Heard 'em call out Obacha, Babic, Gilbert, Lawson, Kinney, Burgess and Kostic for some strong play. Looking at the box score, Spagnolo just missed another double-double. Attendance, while still low, seems to be going in the right direction (2337). Those last four home games with GaSouth, UL-M, TxState and TxArlington should draw well if the kids keep playing decently well and the marketing folks make some strong efforts.

Good game and nice crowd today. It"s great to get another W on the home court and continue to build momentum for the program. i'm looking forward to watching crowds grow over the next few seasons to the point where the tarps come off and we fill the place up on occassion

Re: Nice Win Today!
Today had the case of having a bunch of parents for the halftime show kids sit in the student section during the women's game. So when the students arrived for the men's game, they couldn't sit front and center and were disjointed. Of course said parents left after halftime of the men's game, leaving a bunch of empty seats for the second half. By that time, the few students who has tired to make some noise gave up.appfanjj wrote:I was at the game. Do we not have a student section?

Our win put us well ahead of the bottom half of the league and Ga South lost to lose first place. Good day!
We're smack in the middle of the standing right now and could move into the top half this week.

Any prognosis for the women? With Sydnor out (maybe for her career it was posted on here.). They have hit a rough patch.appvette wrote:Our win put us well ahead of the bottom half of the league and Ga South lost to lose first place. Good day!

We need a section dedicated to students at our men's home games. Students are currently in pockets throughout the Holmes Center. Our adult weekend attendance is decent but our student attendance needs to improve. A dedicated section creating a student game environment would help. Team is playing sound basketball and deserves our support. I made my second game this season yesterday. Team is fun to watch!

Not sure if they are dedicated sections, but there were signs at the Holmes saying the student section was in 202, 203, and 204. Not sure about the 202, but pretty certain on the 203 and 204.Cincy App wrote:We need a section dedicated to students at our men's home games. Yeah as a student they need to section off one area and put students there. Currently they are spread out as Cincy mentioned. It is a mess. I do not care if it is one section only but that way that area is full. The Athletics Dept needs to do something about situations like yesterday.

I made my first game yesterday and really enjoyed seeing the improvement with this team. I look forward to their continued improvement. One noticeable student section could make a big difference in the overall environment of the Holmes Center. I did notice the volleyball team down front and cheering the whole game.

Coach Fox uses his bench well. I've not seen many teams go as deep into the bench as Fox does. I like that.

He also knows the value of building a relationship with the officials. I noticed he engaged them throughout the entire game. Mostly friendly banter resulting in smiles and laughs. Of course, he did not hesitate to let them know when he disagreed with a call. You could tel it was mutual respect. Little things make all the difference. VERY impressive coach.

Re: Nice Win Today!
Yesterday was my 1st basketball game in 20 years. And obviously my first at the HCC. I'll definitely be back for as many Saturday games as possible going forward. You can tell the Yosef Club and the program as a whole are working to build momentum. They're making it easy to be excited and cheer for our guys.
Weekday games may be a challenge, but we should be able to consistently get 5,000+ into the HCC!

Re: Nice Win Today!
What do you think the attendance would be if we played Clemson at home on a weeknight? Or Davidson? Say in late November or early December before exams when students are still on campus? Would this expose a lot more people to App basketball that would come back later?

Re: Nice Win Today!
Yesterday was my 2nd game this season, and hopefully not the last. I enjoyed both games, Ga State and Troy, and really like the way we play as a team, with good off the ball movement and team effort. Can't wait to see how we look after Coach gets a couple more recruiting classes in the fold.
