If my memory serves me correctly. Jay Canty and Aaron Scott are not injured, they are just suspended for the first two games due to drinking tickets.

The drinking tickets is news to me. However, I've been told that both didn't play in the scrimmage due to injuries, but like I said the team has been quiet about that type of news so who knows what the real story is? If the two aren't able to go Friday then that poses a big problem.

Geez...nice start, Mr. Capel. Way to go in monitoring your players. Yet another "x" mark against your contract renewal. Then, there's that little problem about your team's APR.

Re: AppHoops Monday Musings
I would not normally post this information, but it's a matter of public record;' directly from the online Watauga court docket.
Did a little sleuthing and have learned that Mr. Jadarion Jaquan Dion Canty has an 11/15 court date in Watauga District Court on a misdemeanor charge for assault on a female. This must be the "injury" that has him suspended for at least two games. Geez, we're seeing way too much of this rogue behavior from our athletes.
Hope Jay gets some proper anger counseling in addition to his community service and his stint on the bench.

I thought it was just football players recruited prior to this year who did stuff like this.

I beginning to wonder if we are recruiting the correct athletes or not?? I'm tired of hearing these athletes getting into trouble. Make they pay their own way at ASU, I could careless. But, we pay their way.

No need to make any excuses for this behavior but just read the sports page any day and there is a college athlete who has done something stupid that has garnered him a suspension. It's where we are these days.

And there is nobody to blame but us as a society as we have accepted their behavior for many years before they ever get to collage.hapapp wrote:No need to make any excuses for this behavior but just read the sports page any day and there is a college athlete who has done something stupid that has garnered him a suspension. Never said it was a positive thing. Sounds like they're trying some new things to get students more involved in the bball program.

The Appalachian State University Athletics Department is implementing several new promotions during and relating to the men's and women's basketball games.
The first of which will come Tuesday at the home-opening doubleheader in the Holmes Convocation Center at 5:30 p.m.
Free shuttle buses will run from the Kidd Brewer Stadium Lot and the Belk Library Circle to the Holmes Center and back. The shuttles begin running at 5 p.m. and run until 30 minutes following the conclusion of the men's game.
Other promotions include T-shirts for the first 1,000 Appalachian students that enter the arena and dinner provided for students by Appalachian Food Services in between the two games, however students' App Card IDs are required.
These promotions are all a part of a new strategy to get more student involvement in basketball events, said Patrick Meiburg, director of marketing.

Cobb & company trying to cover up the real reason of his suspension with a bogus academic claim. I was told the tough guy punched a girl.asu66 wrote:I would not normally post this information, but it's a matter of public record;' directly from the online Watauga court docket.

Re: AppHoops Monday Musings
As representatives of our University, athletes are under a microscope and held to a higher standard than the general student body. It comes with the territory, and athletes need to know what you are signing up for when you become a college athlete.
Can someone please explain to me why 18 year olds are allowed to vote and serve in the military, yet are not allowed (legally) to drink alcohol? Talk about mixed messages.

Didn't think you did and we are not alone for sure, but as a society we are doing nothing about it.
