NEW ORLEANS - Fans from around the Sun Belt Conference have selected the league’s new basketball championship logo after several days of social media voting.

Polling was conducted via Facebook and fans submitted their choice among two logo options for three days last week.

The winning design features the New Orleans skyline along with the traditional New Orleans fleur-de-lis. The logo is also consistent with the Sun Belt Conference’s primary brand as it features the same typography and color palette as the Sun Belt’s primary logo.

The 2014 Sun Belt Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships are being held at New Orleans’ Lakefront Arena from March 12 through 16. The men’s championship tournament will begin on Thursday, March 13 and will conclude with the championship game being played at 12 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, March 16. The championship game will air on ESPN2 on “Selection Sunday.” The women’s championship tournament will begin on Wednesday, March 12 and will run through Saturday, March 15 with the championship game being played at 8 p.m. (CT) on ESPN3.
