Re: Sun Belt Tournament 2026
And the Sun Belt will have a better seed than the SoCon, as Furman upset ETSU.
And Furman still sucks.
And Furman still sucks.

Who’s going to hire Bob Richey?
South Carolina should have hired him 4 years ago.

Re: Sun Belt Tournament 2026
I was in Asheville most of the weekend and wondered why all the busses were around and then realized that UNCG’s team was in our hotel. Then remembered the wrestling tourney was happening there as well when I ran into some older App people at breakfast one morning.

Are you saying you had no idea the so con tourney was in Asheville this past weekend?biggie wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 9:00 pmI was in Asheville most of the weekend and wondered why all the busses were around and then realized that UNCG’s team was in our hotel. Re: Sun Belt Tournament 2026
In terms of the atmosphere at the tournament final, it was no comparison. The place was packed and loud. While the Sun Belt final had a half full arena.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 9:49 pmIt’s a thousand times better conference tourney than ours for one

Re: Sun Belt Tournament 2026
I miss the movies and music of the 80s and 90s, but App State isn’t playing in the SoCon so I don’t care about it. I won’t be watching the West Coast Conference, etc. either.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 9:49 pmIt’s a thousand times better conference tourney than ours for one

Re: Sun Belt Tournament 2026
I took my kids to the SoCon game last night...great atmosphere - over 6000 fans as opposed to the 2000 or so in Pensacola. When both teams in the title game are an hour or so from Asheville it makes for a nice championship environment.hapapp wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2026 6:54 amIn terms of the atmosphere at the tournament final, it was no comparison. Bob Richey had the perfect opportunity to capitalize on his success at FU a few years ago, but decided to stay in Greenville. They must be compensating him well. I wonder if this is the year he leaves for a bigger paycheck or will he be similar to Mike Young when he was at Wofford - stuck around for 30 years before taking the Va Tech job close to his hometown.

Correct. Went there with church on marriage retreat. Didn’t pay attention.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 9:52 pmAre you saying you had no idea the so con tourney was in Asheville this past weekend?biggie wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 9:00 pmI was in Asheville most of the weekend and wondered why all the busses were around and then realized that UNCG’s team was in our hotel. Re: Sun Belt Tournament 2026
The last time I sat down and watched a SoCon vs. SoCon matchup in football or basketball was 2012, but no shame in others yearning for the small privates.

Re: Sun Belt Tournament 2026
I love college basketball In general so I still follow the so con. It’s the best mid major conference tournament year in and year out imo. Growing up in wnc I knew all the so con schools before I even went to App. I remember that etsu team almost knocking off 1seed Purdue. I guess there’s room in my mind for being an App fan and appreciating the successes of area schools in another conference.

Give credit to the So. Con, the attendance recorded was over 6,000. Not sure if tickets sold versus actual fannies on seats. Impressive

Re: Sun Belt Tournament 2026
It looked packed on tv with each school’s fans. They put a graphic that furman etsu were both roughly 60 miles from Asheville. I hope the sun belt stays in Pensacola foreverBambooRdApp wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2026 9:55 amGive credit to the So. Con, the attendance recorded was over 6,000. Re: Sun Belt Tournament 2026
Same. I've also got friends who went to a lot of SoCon schools, so I sometimes pick a team just for them. Also, picking the SoCon champ to pull an upset in the first round has helped me in my bracket more often than not.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2026 9:39 amI love college basketball In general so I still follow the so con.
