I don’t understand why we lose so many kids (non NIL money involved) after 1 year on campus. Are we telling kids something during recruiting and then doing the opposite when they’re on campus? Kids should know what they’re walking into….unless they don’t actually know.

It's not just here. It's everywhere. Many coaches have to completely (or almost completely) rebuild. We were lucky to keep Huntley and Tate.
Be interesting to see where Muttilib ends up.
The only player from this year's roster that I would seriously try to focus on keeping is Wilson. If others leave then thank you and good luck.

Unfortunately, the kids no longer want to take time to develop. He certainly has potential, but he needs to do the things you have to do to develop it… and that takes time and practice. He was not a fully developed SubBelt starter…. maybe he thinks he is… or maybe he hated Boone. One would think with another off season under his belt and being in the same system for two years, he would have played a lot.

Wish he would’ve taken Threadgill’s minutes. Muttilib’s defense was questionable early on. However, he seemed almost too nervous to make a mistake in his limited minutes. Once he had confidence, he was a threat. Believe it would’ve led to a better team this year, and more likely that Muttilib would’ve stayed for next year. Hindsight is 20/20.

Question for y’all. There’s rumors that Justin Abson will be hitting the portal once Georgia’s season is over. Would you take him back? For me, it’s a no brainer.

Probably a little early to entertain it. I heard the rumors too, also came from Georgia boards…but What if Georgia wins a few games in NCAA tourney and he plays a decent part in that? Might change his mind, don’t know.

I do wonder why Jamil would enter because I don't see him getting enough interest for a big payday. Does he have a problem with our coaches, not like Boone, or just looking for more playing time? I think he would get more playing time if he came back to Boone.

I’m not insinuating that any of this is the reason but we only see the players on game day. We don’t see work ethic and commitment to get better both on the court or in the classroom.

I almost mentioned that as one reason but I am curious. I would think our coaches would want him back unless there was issues we did not see off the court.

How many players have transferred/kicked off since the transfer portal became a thing? 20?
How many transferred for NIL money? 2-3?

We don’t have a great overall track record as a program, it’s improving, but I am starting to wonder why kids are consistently leaving winning teams for reasons other than money. It hasnt hurt us yet, but it sure isn’t easy replacing a ton of guys year in and year out.

The portal like the every decision is college sports is rooted in tipping the scales in favor of the power schools. Sometimes wrapped in virtual signaling as what is best for the players.
