Spillers is definitely gone and I don't expect Abson back. Not sure we have enough resources but I would love to get Abson back. Brown is a good defender but not a big scorer so I think we can replace that and he wants to be close to home. I would imagine Harcum is the biggest priority of those in portal that we could possibly return and Marsh is second. I think we upgrade from Mantis and I expect Kerns to hit JUCO for players with 2 or 3 years left to play for a few spots and the rest from the portal. It will be interesting to see what he is able to bring to Boone.

That sounds about right…. I do hope both Marsh and Harcum come back and really think Abson comes back(I said I think) have a feeling kind of thing….. I do like Kerns and he has more than proven himself as a recruiter and portal evaluator…. It’s kind of cool to be thinking about basketball in the off-season.

I agree on basketball in the off-season. It is indeed cool to be thinking about it.AppFan11 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 8:55 pmThat sounds about right…. I would love to get Abson back but that is going to be a hard task and I don't expect it but would be a huge home run if we can get him.
Of those who entered the portal I will be really happy if we can get Harcum and Marsh back. If we don't I am sure Kerns can get some good players to take those spots.

Coffee connections in the south told me to not be surprised if DK leaves for LSU to join MM staff... Double pay and could spring board to another job in a year. Something to monitor.
Wyoming head coach is leaving for Texas Tech assistant job.

Around $550K (base $375K, personality rights $100K, retention bonus $75K), with an automatic $15K increase each year in the personality rights.
Also, Kerns essentially got a $75K retention/singing bonus for staying, as his old deal had a $25K payment on May 1, and the new one signed April 6 had a $100K one due May 1.

Buyout after next year is $1.9M. Hope he stays long term but at least we’ll be compensated if some wants him.

Re: Kerns agrees to new contract
Kerns’ willingness to agree to such high buyout tells me he and his family are committed to a lengthy stay in Boone.

Re: Kerns agrees to new contract
App plays UNCW, Colgate and Sam Houston State over Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 27-30) in Wilmington in an MTE.
Versus UNC-Asheville in the downtown Asheville arena on Thursday, Nov. 14.
At Auburn to finish that 3-game series.
Hosting a MAC team in November, then going to a MAC team in February.
I think hosting Queens.

Re: Kerns agrees to new contract
Nice start to the schedule. It'd be great to see two more P5s + fewer D2 games (although I imagine that number is dependent on who were actually able to draw to Boone).
