What an awful take.
I'm sorry, did you expect to get blown out at Wake? We had a good season, but wow, I personally learned something about how many more stairs their are to climb. Call it an awful take, but wow, we are not close to an at large bid. Sorry, we're not. And i appreciate this season. I called it generationally good. I love these guys. I want to keep Kerns. But this needs to be a lesson. Sorry if you don't like that take.
We’re not even close and it showed. That should tell you everything.
we would lose 9- 10 games against the Acc
Oh no! With 9 losses in the ACC, we’d end up like NCAA tournament 6 seed Clemson. The horror!

I agree more with Happ…. really thought the refs called a lot of chippy calls (7-8) plus the what 3 goal tends….. we are usually the ones going to the foul line.. I’ll give Wake credit for their defensive intensity the first 7-8 minutes….. but not only did we get the fouls, they didn’t call several on them. We did need a big game from somebody. It’s crazy to think (and you’d never had known it from the announcers) that we had 5 guys in double figures to their 4…… but the free throws won them the game. I also thought we needed a sustained defensive effort to keep them in the high 30’s low 40’s % shooting. That did not happen. Exceptional season and very good team and with what 7 of our 9 starters back next season….. should be good. Last thought on the game, anyone else wonder why Marsh didn’t play more in the second half? He had a speed and quick advantage against them. I thought the same thing during the semi final game too.

Just got home. That sucked. Thought we’d play better than that. And a few nonpleasant stuck up wake fans didn’t help.

Is it possible to congratulate an App team for a hard fought game & a great season that has exceeded the level of success for a program that has struggled, while also acknowledging the fact that there is a talent gap between the ACC & the Sun Belt.

Of course there is. Who is suggesting the ACC and Sun Belt talent are on par?

What I find ignorant is claiming we “aren’t that good”.

You know what we look like? A quality mid major ranked around 70th in NET. Which puts us among the top 20% of D1 teams. We probably lose that game against wake more often than we win it, but on the right night can compete with just about anyone in the country.

Being at the game, I wouldn't argue with you that Wake has more overall talent than we do. What was so frustrating is that they didn't need the officials to give them an even greater advantage.

Just got back from the game. Was glad to see App keep fighting. I thought Wake had better talent but the foul call discrepancies were significant. I saw a verbal confrontation between App's bench and Wake's at the start of a timeout. What caused that?

That's a difference maker - I know some of those were the fouls in the last 1-2 mins but for two teams who play a similar style game that difference is very telling......we outscored them from the floor
It was 20-4 with about 5 to go

Just wanted to thank the Players and Coaches who’ve turned this ship around. Especially you, Mr. Gregory. 27-7 and still more stairs to climb.

Two of the three officials for tonight's game officiated most of their games for the ACC this year as well as prior years. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Honestly, I would almost rather lose with the coach and players we put on the floor tonight than win with a classless coach, incompetent officials, and a classless kid like their number 2 who should have been T’d up for delaying the game while mopping up the floor and blatantly pulling his pants down to his knees just to tuck his jersey in among several other things. He’d be an average player if he was one billionth as good as he thinks he is.

Great season tough ending. The harsh reality that many don't want to accept is that there is simply a difference in App and ACC schools and power conferences in general. We have to absolutely find magic in a bottle and tonight we could not sustain it. Spillers was on fire then went away. We had success in the paint then just started jacking 3's. How many 3's did we get blocked or deflected- maybe 3? I don't recall a single one all year in the Belt.

And just because we lost doesn't mean we didn't deserve a bid to the NCAA tournament. Only one team wins and there will be a few blowouts.

You are correct . However a couple of things: not many teams overcome the disparity in nimbler of foul calls against each team and we have no real winning culture in basketball. Perhaps this is a beginning of a culture of winning. Can’t do much about refs. We’ll just have to be better than them and leave no doubt!

On TV that curly-headed kid, Keller, was getting away with a lot of pushing and jawing and then mugging to the Wake bench. It was soon after that some App players seemed to take umbrage. I mean, Keller played 14 minutes and the only stats he accrued was 1 rebound and 1 turnover, but every time the camera was on him he was talking trash and mugging.

You don't win 27 games with an awful offense. Bring some evidence to back up your claim or GTFO. Nobody wants to deal with your negativity as you navigate your emotions after a tough loss.

Wake has a few of really good players, but they aren't some far superior team. We settled for too many 3's early in the game instead of attaching them, but a lot of the looks were wide open though. If we hit them it's a different game. Of course the FT situation was huge.
When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?
