The Sun Belt regular season champion is now 1-3 all time in Pensacola.

No. 4 Arkansas State plays No. 5 Louisiana in a little bit. Winner plays the Apps tomorrow.

Let's never do that again.

EDIT: And the Red Wolves win comfortably. Marlin is still traumatized by Boone.

Like the Eagles, A-State shoots 3s. They were injured when they came to Boone, so this won't be the same team.

Also, Daylight Savings Time is at 2 a.m., so spring forward those clocks when you wake up.

AState is drubbing UL at the moment. They won’t be the same team we beat last Friday.

Going to be a good day tomorrow, Yankee spring training game in Tampa at 1:05, followed by App game on ESPN+ on my phone as my lovely wife drives us home, and then my two youngest get home for spring break from their post grad schools. I feel much more comfortable about this game than I did about the southern game, those damn drainage ditch water drinking dudes seem to always get up for us.

As mentioned, we did rest many of our top players for longer minutes than usual last week since the game meant nothing on our end, and we were pretty banged up going in. They'll all play today, the only concern is Caleb Fields, who looked off all day yesterday, and sat most of the 2nd half. With leads of 15-20 points for the last 30 minutes, it didn't really matter, but there's a lot of concern heading into today about how effective he'll be.

Simply we put, we have to start better tonight and limit you guys from 3, otherwise its going to be a long game. I'm expecting you guys to play JMU in the FInals, but you never know. The SBC doesn't exactly have a history of the 1 seed doing well in tournament play. Plus Texas State is apparently the greatest team in the world again and could just shock everyone.

App will have to play their rival, the hottest team in the SBC, and the highest rated SBC team to win the title.

Would be a heck of a run, second stair in 5 hours.

A win today would go a long way towards an NIT opportunity. And wins today and tomorrow should put us on the 12 line in the Dance.

Go App!

Any idea why the conference regular season champion no longer receives an auto bid into the NIT if they don't win the conference tournament?

Because the NIT wants to make money. Still more profitable to invite Boston College or Texas A&M than it would be to invite say, Eastern Kentucky.

It's a shame that money would put a mediocre power team over a mid-major regular season champion.

They never gave an explanation but I have no doubt that App or JMU would get in if they don't win the Sun Belt Tourney. I have no problem with the change because there are some conferences whose regular season champ would not belong in NIT. The NIT should want the best teams they can get and not just a team who won a regular season title with 18 wins a a bad schedule.

It’s unfortunate, but TV is all about putting eyes on advertising.

Long ago, the sage summed this up by stating that “money talks and bullsh_t walks.”

To be fair only 2 conferences had regular season champs with less than 20 wins.
