Are any other rosters built like ours
Crazy Stat:
Three of our regular starters have combined for TWO made 3 pt. FG's this season:
Justin Abson 2 made in 9 attempts
Trevon Spillers 0 made in 1 attempt
Xavion Brown 0 made in 0 attempts
Are there any other D1 teams in today's game with those type of numbers? We are averaging over 78 points a game.
(and Donovan Gregory has only made 10 treys this season with 4 of those coming in the last two games)

Re: Are any other rosters built like ours
I agree--Just Win.
The point is that Kerns has adjusted the style to match the strengths of this team.
In 21'-22' we averaged 11 points less per game (67.1 ppg) and 1/3 of our made baskets were three pointers.
Now, we score over 78 points a game and only 1/4 of our made baskets are three pointers.
We are scoring more and winning more and relying on the three-pointer less. Kerns isn't stuck with a system. He's adapted and our team has become more successful (there's also a higher level of players in our line-up).

I think that is the biggest factor. The offense has obviously changed, but it is more similar to what he ran at Presby.

I think the biggest difference is point guard. Very rarely do you have a PG that cannot shoot at least a below average 3...and make a below average number. For us to be successful, our PG knows his strengths and weaknesses..and hopefully will not have to make any attempts all season.... unless an attempt in a blowout win just to see if he can make one.

We recruit the best players that we can and play to their strengths. It’s going to be different year to year. We have an excellent balance at present.

Re: Are any other rosters built like ours
When he was at Presby they were actually one of the leading 3 point shooting teams in the country. And 3 point percentage, as well as assist-turnover ratio. He adapts to his personnel, which is a sign of a great coach. That’s partially why coach K was always so successful. He was never married to a system. He adapted to the evolution of the game and to his personnel at the time. It’s amazing to me that Kerns has been so much better this year than last year. He has the right pieces now. Last year was a weird hodgepodge of veterans and transfers that didn’t mesh near as well as this group. Spillers and Tate blend with the veterans seamlessly.

Not that this thread isn't fun and all, but wouldn't y'all prefer to argue about free throws?
