Fun game. Made it even better that they got the win. Tons of determination.

I think a loss could have been really bad and might have hurt us mentally down the stretch. Conversely this might push us big time down the stretch.

Knew he didn’t get fouled….. promise you that tough on the free throw line. Especially after the first miss.
Won it legitimately.

Glad one of my arteries got a stent back in November. Otherwise, I believe this game would have done me in. LOL

Man, what a DOGFIGHT. I don’t know what else the Rockets could throw at us…for a while, everything they threw in the area of the basket was going in. So hats off to a great competitor.
But once again, the Mountaineers find a way to win. GO APP!

I’m right here. Also, I wrote a speech about free throws, not a paper. Also, also, App had a 72.4 FT% this game, which is above average. ALSO, also, also, free throws didn’t cost App the game, which is the point I’ve made over and over again. Free throws rarely ever are the reason a game is won or lost.

Heck of a game!
It seems like Kerns found our 7 man rotation Somehow have to get Spillers back to form. We will need him down the stretch.

Wasn't putting it on one player. Missed opportunities at the line has been a point of conversation all year and an area for improvement. No doubt DG had pressure on him. I don't care if your playing pee wee ball, high school or D1, that pressure is real in close games. No matter which level it is, free throws still matter though.

If he would have made FTs, would have won the game earlier. Refs call games, not 11 on our team.

A simple, “you’re right, FT’s matter” would have been the correct manly thing here. Heck of a win! Donovan will tell you that.MrCraig wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 3:37 pmI’m right here. They matter as much as any other shot a player takes, no more, no less. Which has been my point all along. FT% =\= a good or bad team, just an aspect of that team.311neers wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 3:43 pmA simple, “you’re right, FT’s matter” would have been the correct manly thing here. Heck of a win! Best game I've ever seen in the Holmes Center.
Almost don't mind 20 minutes of not moving in the Rivers Streer deck postgame.

It's really kind of dumb and pointless debate/argument. We made 21-29 today which is just over 72%. It's like saying a missed FG cost you a football game even if you had 3 turnovers or a bunch of dropped passes or missed tackles. All aspects of the game are important. I think the point some of us have tried to make is that we don't believe missed free throws have or will cost us a game. Don't blow easy opportunities during the game and let it come down to free throws. We left 7 points on the board but rarely does any team shoot 29-29. Gregory makes just one of those and it's a mute point. Great win! Run the table now.

Well when it’s 0-0 and your best player is on the line (75% shooter) with 2 seconds left (the exact situation), they matter.MrCraig wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 4:06 pmThey matter as much as any other shot a player takes, no more, no less. Other moments mattered as well, right about that.

FWIW, we were 65% after he missed. 15-23. Not good. We hit some late down the stretch, thus won the game.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 4:11 pmIt's really kind of dumb and pointless debate/argument. We made 21-29 today which is just over 72%. 11 teams currently with 20 wins. App and JMU in that group. That's pretty cool no matter what.

We came into the game at 65.6%, which ranks #325 of 351 teams.311neers wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 4:13 pmFWIW, we were 65% after he missed. 15-23. Not good. An uncontested shot from 10ft away with everyone standing still is about the easiest opportunity you will get. Yes, 72% today, however bottom tier in this league alone from the free throw line will absolutely play spoiler to the hopes this team has for themselves. Got to hit the free ones. To be fair, the boys have improved and that is all you can ask for...growth.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 4:11 pmIt's really kind of dumb and pointless debate/argument.
