23-24 Schedule
Any announced OOC games yet?
There is a press mention of the ETSU game being a done deal, but I haven't been able to located any others particularly any P5.

Re: 23-24 Schedule
Unless something has changed in the last two months, we're hosting Auburn. Yes, Bruce Pearl's Auburn.
Other home games Kerns previously said were "locked in" include ETSU and Iona.
This past year was the last of the current UNCC contract. Don't know if that's continuing.

Re: 23-24 Schedule
I would think most of the old SOCON would do Home and home with us, same for many of the A10. There are 9 teams in the SOCON that are pretty close to us. It should be a win win for most of those schools. I would think we would bring a decent crowd to UNCG, Davidson.
I am rambling but I wish we would find 4 teams in Charlotte, TRiad, Greensboro that would rotate every other year home and away. We could build some tradition for the two away games each year. My 4 picks would be UNCC, UNCG, WAKE, Davidson. UNCC/Davidson alternating home/Away UNCG/WAKE Alternating home/away for a 10 year contract. Build Alumni events around the two away games even if they were weeknights on the away games.

Re: 23-24 Schedule
For the Triad: Elon, UNCG, HPU, NC A&T all would be good H-H with minimal costs.
That could make for a fun early season tournament in Greensboro and add in WCU, App, Campbell, UNC-W. That makes 8 teams.

Re: 23-24 Schedule
Iona wrote us a check , new coach didn't want the game.We have approached almost all NC D1s about home and home , or neutral.Davidson does not like us very much so that's a no go.Two good neutrals lined up this year and next.As far as I know Auburn is still a go.

Re: 23-24 Schedule
What does Davidson have against us? Although I think the A10 as a group are not scheduling sun belt teams until our NET is higherStonewall wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 8:00 amIona wrote us a check , new coach didn't want the game.We have approached almost all NC D1s about home and home , or neutral.Davidson does not like us very much so that's a no go.Two good neutrals lined up this year and next.As far as I know Auburn is still a go.

Re: 23-24 Schedule
The Auburn home game is Sunday, Dec. 3.
Also, add a "home" game versus UNC Asheville in Hickory.

Re: 23-24 Schedule
I am sure they want to kick off the new campus with some events in Hickory and make it feel a part of the App family. Outside of L-R I am not aware of any place that could have a realistic amount of people in attendance and close to DI facilities with somewhat turnkey readiness. If we pay L-R enough I am sure they would take the money but I am also sure L-R is not overly happy with App moving into Hickory with the effort we are and if I were them I would set a very high rent if we were to use their basketball court.
Could the convention center off I-40 have high enough ceilings and floor space to bring in a few thousand seats. The special events center at Greensboro has that sort of capacity. I have never been inside the facility in Hickory to verify.
