Updated to reflect the Donovan Gregory news, and Luke Ledford who has committed as a preferred walk on from the Raleigh area.

My hope is Donovan is not the best player on our roster next year, if he is our second / third offensive option watch out Sun Belt.....

Luke Ledford, 6-3 "PF" (Raleigh Broughton)
Every coach is looking for a walk-on kid like this with an outside shooting eye and a 4.3 GPA! ;)

Ledford seems to be a great kid , family is well grounded and very appreciative of the opportunity.

Not sure if we consider Myles Tate a "big time guard addition" from the Portal or not, but solid high school pedigree. Former 3 star recruit from SC. Butler typically recruits good talent so I like that.

Logged a bunch of minutes as a freshman - more playmaker than scorer. He had an ACL tear his Soph. season so this year he was playing post recovery and didn't put up a ton of prolific stats. That said, he's a true PG which App desperately needs and is someone that can easily play alongside Harcum and Brown.

Looks like he's got good speed with the ball and prefers to go downhill towards the rim rather than move around the 3 point line. His best shot is around that mid range area and given that we have multiple guys in Harcum, Mantis and Huntley that can spread the floor, I would imagine there will be a lot of space there for him to take and make some shots.

His 3 point percentages are low so I don't expect him to really stretch the floor, but his shot form is really solid so the potential is there for him to get towards 30% from 3.

The best part is that he's a 76% free throw shooter which easily makes him one of, if not the best on the team. Will definitely be in closing lineups.

Solid transfer get. Fills the FT shooting wishlist need. Maybe satisfies the big time guard addition.

Updated to reflect the Tate addition from Butler!

Agree with most of the above assessment performed well as a freshman for Butler before his ACL tear. His numbers post ACL recovery have yet to catch up to that production. Maybe dropping a level to the Sun Belt will help that. Good free throw shooter yes, but at 23% from deep I find it hard to see him as a threat from deep. A hypothetical line up with Tate-Brown-Gregory-Abson would basically be 4 guys with no threat of scoring from behind the arc.

A dynamic wing addition is still crucial

Maybe Tate has been practicing 3s the past 2 years as his ACL healed

Players 3 point percentage generally go up with increased playing time. If you’re on the bench for 30 minutes a game, it’s difficult to get in a groove.

Not sure if everyone is holding their breath hoping no one transfers out, but shaping up pretty good with returning the 5 guys that started our last 3 games along with Mantis, adding a PG transfer from Butler and the two incoming freshman. We get one more solid transfer in the post and no one else leaves, have to feel pretty good seeing all the other teams in our conference lose their best players. JMU and Marshall stick out to me, but sure their are others.

We still have a few scholarships available. We need a little more talent and depth still. Get 2 or 3 more solid additions and we will be competing for SBCT and hopefully 20 wins

Saw one publication that lists Tate as #20 top transfer commit to date. I realize the number of commitments is low compared to those still coming, but still cool to see him mentioned.

Been a quiet 3 weeks...maybe it's a dead period, I am not certain.

We still have 3-4 scholarships to fill, correct?

6 or 7 returning (unsure of Teasett status), 3 incoming.

Hopefully the no news is good news at this point in the transfer cycle. Been a rush of transfer commits past couple weeks so imagine we see something there soon.

Read in the Roanoke paper that a kid had decommitted from FDU and considered App before choosing Iona. Appears the former FDU coach has moved on to Iona.

Um, he had eligibility left? Didn’t know that. This isn’t good. Big loss (even though I thought he was already gone)
