Not really upset about this, but wish him the best wherever he lands unless it’s a conference foe.

Updated to reflect the Teasett announcement. Wonder why it took so long to announce, I mean many of us could have predicted this since December

Maybe to let him finish school strong for his next adventure? Not sure, just a thought.HurricaneYosef wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 9:30 pmUpdated to reflect the Teasett announcement. Wonder why it took so long to announce, I mean many of us could have predicted this since December
We didn’t retain any portal guys we picked up last year, kind of odd- Boykin, Teasett, Walker

Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
I don't say this to cast dispersions on these guys or any that transfer but when a player/student transfers 3 or more times in their college "career" perhaps they have problems with assimilating into a school or team? Some people in life are just never happy and always seek what seems to be the next best thing. I a game and a season there are only so many shots to be taken. Maybe some of these players believe they should get more and aren't content unless they are the man.311neers wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 7:11 amMaybe to let him finish school strong for his next adventure? Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
Wish Teasett well.
That said he probably wasn't in line for many minutes this upcoming season. Maybe with more time he'd have developed more rhythm (his numbers were a big regression from his historical), but I think he was one of the bigger defensive liabilities of any guard this past season. He also had some really poorly timed turnovers.

Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
Teasett left on his own regard. He had the option to finish school at App and chose not to. That's on nobody else but himself if he doesn't finish school.311neers wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 7:11 amMaybe to let him finish school strong for his next adventure? We didn't force anybody away. Unless making the players follow team and NCAA rules is considered forcing players away these days...

Entering the transfer portal ≠ dropping out of school or being no longer able to attend classes at current (soon to be previous) school311neers wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 7:11 amMaybe to let him finish school strong for his next adventure? Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
Thanks for the intel. We recruited the above 3 student athletes out of the portal 9 months ago. We really wanted them, they really wanted us...fast forward not even 9 months, kids aren't going to class, 1 didn't finish the season and the other jumps in the portal the first chance he gets. I know it's tough with 19-23 year olds and things change quickly, but somehow we have to get a little more dialed in and mitigate this as much as possible moving forward. We can't sustain much when we start a season with 13 scholarship guys and end it with 8.HurricaneYosef wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 9:29 amEntering the transfer portal ≠ dropping out of school or being no longer able to attend classes at current (soon to be previous) school311neers wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 7:11 amMaybe to let him finish school strong for his next adventure? Thankfully, the portal and high school ranks are full with talent, we just have to find the right cultural fit, which I'm certain is extremely challenging for the staff. It's always been a difficult job, but now it's extremely difficult with NIL and the portal, so props to the staff for giving their all in a crazy world of College Basketball.
Anxious to see where we go with the last 2 scholarships!

Just a wild 2022-2023 season, glad that's behind us! Just learned of a fight that occurred between teammates mid-season per 247 site, not good.

Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
Still didn’t answer the question. Is it an assumption that they stopped going to class or is there knowledge that they indeed stopped going?

No clue, asking the wrong person. Seems like HurricaneYosef and News have those answers above.

My apologies. I saw where they mentioned him transferring. You are the one the mentioned them not going to class.311neers wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 1:14 pmNo clue, asking the wrong person. Seems like HurricaneYosef and News have those answers above.

Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
My apologies. I saw where they posted about dropping out of school/not finishing. I took that as not going to class. So I guess the question still stands, but doesn’t really matter, he’s gone.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 1:28 pmMy apologies. I saw where they mentioned him transferring. Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
Who posted anybody dropped out? It was actually the exact opposite. You said the basketball program didn't allow them to attend the University any more. I simply said the players chose to go somewhere else and were not kicked out like you suggested...311neers wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 1:39 pmMy apologies. Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
Without going back up to explain the confusion and probably causing more confusion, I’ll eat it and say I read the comments wrong and misinterpreted yours and Cane’s post. Understand them now. I never said that we kicked a kid off or that they can’t go to school anymore if they transfer portal…I know that’s not the case because 2 kids I know stuck around and finished school even in the portal. I merely just asked a question that maybe we didn’t announce the portal so he could finish up school strong and focus on his class work without having to deal with the portal stress. It was just a suggestion as to why I thought we/he might have not announced it in December. Whoopsie!AppStateNews wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 2:38 pmWho posted anybody dropped out?
