Yes Myrtle has space and experience, they host big high school tournaments every year along with a college tournament.
Where is there an arena in Myrtle? I’m just not familiar with one. Unless it’s Coastal, but that’s way too small and they wouldn’t host at a SBC school. Medieval Times?
Based upon attendance in Pensacola, Coastal's gym would be more than large enough 🤣🤣
The local YMCA would be too! Or a church gym 😂😂😂. They’ll move it at some point.

This will not be popular with the purist...but I would be ok with The east hosting a tournament Friday, Saturday, Sunday in Myrtle, Charleston, Charlotte and the west hosting a tournament for their schools and having the two champions play in the championship game each year on Monday in Atlanta or alternating East/West sites. That Monday would be tough on travel to get there.....I would assume a bus ride for one of the teams. As long as it was alternated yearly, it would be fair.

That would require divisions, no?

I thought we already somewhat play divisions. Don't we play all east teams home/away each year and the west teams just once alternating. I really don't know but I would think the east west split would be pretty close to fair and we could have a sunbelt east title banner

It would be somewhat a formality to split them into definitive divisions. I don’t hate the idea. It doesn’t seem practical to me.

Myrtle Beach Convention Center, stated capacity is 8,000. Sheraton Hotel is attached plus numerous other accommodations.

I don't think those are factors to our fans.

We could do regional champions, Friday/Saturday/Sunday and then move the Championship game from Monday to Tuesday to give the teams a chance to get there. ESPN would probably accommodate a move from Monday to Tuesday. 6 of the 7 teams would save on travel that could be used to provide travel for the championship game. Looking at the map...Raleigh would probably be the cheapest location for all east teams. Atlanta would be the longest drive but would probably be a very cheap flight. RDU houses many low cost airline options. Marshall is always going to be an outlier. Georgia St. / Marshall/ Georgia Southern 6 hour rides. The rest less than 3 hours.

Selfishly , I have been attending our tournaments for decades , more than two , less than seven , a longtime and want a better experience. One that will draw fans and be as much fun as possible. The excitement of a single bid conference tournament when done right is hard to beat.
