GAME THREAD - MBB @ Georgia State, Weds 2/22
Atlanta, GA
7 pm
ESPN+
App given 59% chance to win
line still TBD
Seems weird to switch up our Thurs/Sat rotation for the final week of the regular season but here we are. 15-14. Win both, finish 3 games over .500 beating two rivals on the road. Lose both and finish under .500.

Re: GAME THREAD - MBB @ Georgia State, Weds 2/22
Hope they can get it done tonight and Friday. World of difference between those seed lines.
Opening game with any of the bottom four teams leaves a great opportunity for a win and a likely path that includes JMU/ULL. Way more viable then matching up with South Alabama & Southern Miss.
Louisiana has dropped three of their last four. And App came close in this most recent JMU game to winning as well. JMU is a decent team and they've got a ceiling as high as any in the conference, but I've watched a few of their games this season and they seem to be either scoring in bunches or ice cold.

Reason for the Wed and Friday action is to end the season a day early. Gives teams an extra day of rest before SBC tournament begins on Tuesday of next week.

FYI, Dibaji is out tonight due to a death in his family. He's expected to rejoin the team on Friday in Statesboro.

Wild how when we dominate there isn't a whole lot on the game thread. It's almost like a large faction of this board only like to complain...

14-21 from 3pt land.
6-7 from the stripe.
54% overall shooting night.
Hard to lose with those stat lines tonight (or any night for that matter).

Good win. Would be nice to beat the stink and carry some momentum into the sun belt tourney.

Great win, finish strong vs the stink. I hope we avoid USA in the second round.

Looks like we get GS regardless. If we win and USA were to lose (they play UL), good chance we get ULM. Best we can finish is 7th.

After we win tomorrow and if Troy loses don't we win the head to head tiebreaker over them? If ODU loses we would have split with them but both of us would be 10-8 in conference. Is overall record a tiebreaker?

You are correct. I wasn’t going to say anything but since you are complaining… I’ve seen this bait hundreds of times over the past 55 years, win one lose one, win two lose three. About the time we look like we’ve turned it on we fall flat. Best game we’ve played this year. After last night I’m , again, hopeful! We’ll see.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 8:47 pmWild how when we dominate there isn't a whole lot on the game thread. It's almost like a large faction of this board only like to complain...

I try to stay positive and support our teams even when they struggle and we played well last night and killed it from behind the arc but Ga State is not good and according to the announcers they were missing (I think) 4 guys. That being said a 20+ point win is still great. It's all about momentum from here on out.pop5app wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 7:03 amYou are correct. The distance from 3 and the height of the basket is supposed to be the same in every gym...soooo...glad to see Mantis raining 3s...hope that carries through the tourney...IMO, only way we win SBC tournament... not 20+..but need 12 to 14 to keep teams honest...if he played like that every night and gets stronger..I could see an All SBC performer by senior year

Wednesday is a good night for basketball. Much better than the other nights. We should play more Wednesday night games.

Agree. Its always way too many days between a Saturday game and the next one when it's on a Thursday night. It's not like the Belt games are on the mothership.
