These droughts are not acceptable. With that said, before someone posts something, I'm 100% behind Kerns.

We made them look like the best team in the league.Crap on both ends of the court , start to finish. We got our ass kicked by a 6-8 ball club.

We beat bad teams or teams that play poorly. We looked the exact same against UL Monroe, they just happened to play worse than we did.

Be careful. You’ll be accused of hoping we fail.

Unless I’m mistaken, this was the third time in the last 4 games where we only managed 8 points in the first 10-12 minutes of the game. Not going to win often digging your own grave that deeply. Especially not when you follow that up with frequent 5 minute ir worse scoring droughts.

Huh... Here I was thinking we shot 46% and held ULM to 25% on Thursday. But I guess we played the exact same way tonight. So, we didn't shoot 37% tonight. Nor did we shoot just 22% from 3 tonight.

I'm not a basketball savant by any means, but both sides of the ball were running a completely different game plan than what they ran against ULM. If I can see it, most people should be able to.

South Alabama just straight beat us tonight. They shot nearly 60% from the field and we didn't even hit 40%.

We just got our teeth kicked in by an 11 win team. We’re just not a well coached basketball team .

An 11 win team that has won 4 out of their last 5 games and has been one of the hottest teams in the belt as of late. Momentum has a lot to do with basketball success. We didn’t play well and USA shot lights out tonight. I’m pretty sure that anyone who knows Kerns in the coaching circles would disagree with your “we’re not a well coached team” statement. His staff has had more success with player development than any staff I’ve seen in Boone. Kerns is a respected college bball coach. We just don’t have a player/players who can take over a game this year. Quite frankly USA matched up well with us personnel wise…another factor that often contributes to wins. There is more nuance to basketball than coaching alone.

While SOAL is an 11 win team, since 2019 with their current coach who loves the portal, they are like 16-17 in the month of January and 20-8 in the month of February …… ran into a buzz saw tonight… on both sides of the ball.

Ok, I’m not anti Kerns. I appreciate the fact that he has elevated the program from where it was for the decade prior to his arrival. But how can you say he’s been successful with player development with a straight face? I’m seeing pretty good recruiting. Player development, not so much. We have been brutally inconsistent offensively and have to be among the very worst free throw shooting teams in the country. No signs of improvement since last year. Mantis is a turnover machine that’s supposed to be a lights out shooter thats scored 3 points total in the last two games. Two seasons in, no development there.

Fair enough. I’m not hating on Kerns or the team. If you can’t see that kerns style of play is awful and maybe we’re just not good. We went 1-3 in a stretch that we should have been rolling. Nothing has changed in three years.

I get the negativity…. but Harcum has developed since last season and so has Mantis compared to where he was as a freshman…. he still has improving to do .. but who doesn’t ?

Because players such as Delph, Oshowen Williams, Gregory, became remarkably better players from the previous staff to this one, and we are currently seeing the same thing with Harcum from year one to two. I’m talking individual player development, not overall team free throw shooting, etc. the interesting thing that folks forget about is that we were one of the better teams in the country in free throw shooting a couple years ago, and we are currently the best defense in the belt, and have been #1 or 2 in that category every year he’s been in town. I’m not a fan of the offense…hopefully some adjustments will be made there.

He did have one of the top 3 point percentage, 3 pointers made, and assist-turnover ratio teams in the country at Presbyterian, but maybe it was just because his personnel vs the big south happened to work that year.

We are also an 11 win team if you take away the 3 “sister mary blind” wins. .500 team, none of it matters until conference tourney, or so I am told.

Kerns needs to make a major improvement next season or I’d be willing to bet Gillin starts to turn up the heat.

Let’s be real guys, football and wrestling are the only sports App is consistently good at. We’re average to bad in just about everything else.

Is that good enough?
