Marshall 18-5 overall vs App 13-10. Marshall is very good but beatable. They lost to ULM last week in double OT. Just didn’t look crisp coming down the stretch in that game. They needed OT to beat Arkansas State the week before that. They’re about 10 points better on offense. We’re about 6 points better on defense. If the Herd are off their game a little we can beat them.

I hate Marshall. That is all.

Oddly enough a loss for Marshall today could put them on the outside looking in for the byes. They'd be very tough five seed.

Is there any word on Boykin's return?

True, I hardly even knew there was a game tonight because all I've heard about it Saturday's. Strange indeed.

I was only periphery following APP and Marshall back in the SoCon days - why do you guys hate Marshall so much?

For me it was the 1987 I-AA semifinal loss and all their fans that used to come town and leave green bumper stickers on everything. Basketball just catches hate because they're Marshall and they kept beating us during my years in school, but mostly it all comes from football.

When I was in grad school..early to mid 90s, Marsha was typically a top 5 program....so were we...great games...and intense..so it is the rivalry game for me..more than Stink..
Never had any issues with fanbase at Marshall..just intense football rivalry

Why do we hate Marshall, we visited Huntington in early 90's.

I never really hated them, mostly respect.

I went to App from 78 to 82 and we would schedule them for homecoming some years (I guess they were still rebuilding from the plane crash and it took years). They always brought a large contingent. One year we were up by nearly 40 and they scored a touchdown at the end of the game and their stands were on fire (like they had won the game). In retrospect it was probably a major accomplishment as they were building their program back.

In the 80's/90's I attended some games that were super competitive. Some of the hardest hitting games I've seen.

I'm glad we are in the same conference. Like GS, this is a good rivalry. I think Coastal has a ways to go (build a history) before they get on this level.

No hate, just a good rivalry. Glad to have another program putting butts in seats.
