Don is done after this season as is Boykin and Walker .I am impressed by what we have done in the TP though .
Ah I missed the Gr next to their names on the roster. Thanks.

1st game i missed all year and we won big!!! not watching another game!

we need boykin back healthy, mantis seems out of it, great W and keep it rolling back at the holmescourt advantage
It was a bad couple of minutes for CM.The turnover and the monster slam with him jogging up behind.I think you foul the guy there .I would have , well if I could catch up to him.
I didn’t get to see this game but the last few have looked rough for him, hopefully he can bounce back as he is needed.

Next 2 games against the worst 2 teams are MUST WIN. Someone has to have intel on Boykin? Will he be back this week? Or do we rest him for these 2?

It was indeed one of our better wins in a long time, leading almost start to finish on the road. Having said that, it's just one more example of the inconsistency of this team. Its hard to know which team, or for that matter player will show up. Walker lights it up one night and is almost nonexistent the next. How will Harcum perform next? It is a strength, on the one hand, to have a number of guys capable of turning in such performances but that can be a dangerous thing to hope that someone turns in a seasonal or career performance to propel the team.

I agree with those who have suggested this is a title capable team if they can find some consistency. There a good number of very talented players on this team that if they play on a consistent basis can really be a force in March.

ODU has a helluva an arena. Very nice from all of the other arenas I’ve seen within the Sunbelt. Hope we keep the pace in the second half.
I was impressed with the turnout, I wish we could turn out like that. The real benefit of being in a metro area of 1.7 million folks.

It's been a long standing discussion regarding the Boone area/basketball attendance. Over the last 30 or so years have we ever had what would be considered great attendance? I know us old heads who watched games in Varsity believe that crowds were usually pretty good or maybe we thought they were. Is there a comparable school to App as it relates to the general population around the school? No matter how the team does it's really amazing the relatively few students who seem to attend. It would seem like 3,000ish students would not be a crazy number. It's not like Holmes is way off of campus and requires driving and parking like RBC in Raleigh.

3000 students is ambitious. But 1000 (consistently) seems doable. Add 2500 from the community would be nice. 3500 or so for weeknight games and maybe 4500 for weekend games would be a dramatic improvement. But in fairness, and as a season ticket holder, there has to be consistency. Kerns is doing a fine job, but to have Holmes regularly half filled is going to take a better and more consistent product.

The other half of the equation is quality opponents. Our home ooc schedule was atrocious. I know Kerns wants some wins and it’s hard to get quality ooc to Boone but it’s embarrassing to play so many colleges I’ve never heard of that are in the SE.

Good point. Nobody Really cares to go see a game less competitive than a team scrimmage

I agree about the schedule in some respects...we really need to get away from playing 3 sub d1 teams...our 11-10 mark to me is really 8-10..since those 3 are not on our level...1 game against non d1 is fine...but beyond that those games do nothing for us.

We have 20,000 students. You would think you could find 2,000 willing to go to all the home games. Pitiful

We’ve never built a consistent winning program. As a result we have never been able to pull away those students that have been force-fed ACC basketball all of their lives. Win, and win consistently over years and they will come .

That's why I said 3,000. Maybe that's ambitious as someone replied but it's still a sporting event to attend. I really don't think that average students care one bit if the team is that good or not. I know it's not the same but I saw a few minutes of the Louisville v UNC game the other night and the Louisville arena was still packed, and they are beyond awful.

You might go and watch some of the old games on Youtube to see what kind of crowds are possible, when you are winning and a solid contender. We can overanalyze, but win and everything else more or less takes care of itself.

And how many live on campus? Or near campus? A couple thousand? Not many upperclassmen (of drinking age with other things to do) are going to drive in on a weeknight to watch a .500 team.

Approximately 6,100 live on campus according to App and their are tons of apartments along King St and around the Convocation Center area. Still pitiful.

I agree with those that saying winning is the best cure for these small crowds.

It makes me sick to my stomach, be we know a lot these folks love App in football, but have “always loved” UNCheat or Dook in basketball.

That being said UNCheat and Dook aren’t anywhere close to what they used to be, at least this year. I really wish we could rattle off a bunch of wins and really get it going. Look at CofC this year (granted no football and a good basketball tradition). If we were able to really catch fire and and those two continue to dip, we could build some really good momentum. We need to take advantage quick, cause I doubt either stay down very long *puke*

GO APPS!!

Charleston is selling out every game. I live here and have been to 2 home games to see what Pat Kelsey is about. He meets with donors before the team runs out of the tunnel and gives them the game plan just as he is giving it to the players (trying to find the link of this, will post when i find it) It's wild, that guy has amped up this whole fanbase and city down here. After games, every restaurant is slammed with people that were at the games. I really want this for our team, alumni and the Town of Boone.
