Should be a win, but this season that means little. Let's see if we can start to play with consistency the next four games, all very winnable.

Is kind of ironic that for mainly the G5 (mid major) level the regular season for football is crucial in that any hopes of a real postseason (playoff or NY6 bowl) the best teams really can't afford a bad loss- or any loss some years. In basketball the regular season is important but relatively meaningless for the postseason. We proved that a few years ago. While I don't think expanding the basketball tournament to over 100 teams is a great idea it would at least give a mid major team with over 20 wins an automatic bid in most cases.

Agreed. For the Sunbelt, the only team making the big Match Madness tourney is probably the tournament winner. So for App. St. hope to see new team members continue to gel and make run in SBC tournament.

If an SBC team ends up with 0 to 2 losses in conference and beat some decent P5 teams in OOC schedule, I would feel differently in that type of team should make big dance even if loss in SBC tournament.

Those Quad wins are the big thing now. Makes sense to use that as a criteria I suppose but often that's out of a team's hands. Gets me thinking what is the highest quad win for App basketball over the last 20 years or so? If you knock off a perceived good team early I reckon they have to stay good all season for it to be a decent quad win.

The Sunbelt as a whole is having a decent year. I don't think the league being multi-bid in future years (even with current tournament format which I still like) is outside the the realm of possibility. But it'll take a concerted effort by most of the AD's around the SBB to really pursue competitive matchups across the board. App's schedule, sans some of the non-D1 games, was very good by SBB standards and even some of us found it lacking. The rest of the conference needs to do better.

If a team like Kentucky is on the outside looking in at the moment, no reason a great but lesser mid major team should get a free pass. The current scheduling at most SBB schools probably precludes an at-large from Day 1 so until it improves the tournament it is...

My fantasy scenario is App continuing to schedule 3~ away games with good mid-major programs VCU/Davidson/Charlotte/ETSU/etc annually, team consistently plays in upper end regular season mid-major tournaments (e.g. Baha Mar Hoops), and has a P5 schedule with a couple in-state opponents as well as one regional travel game (Alabama, Tennessee, etc). An App team with that schedule, great record, and Semis or later exit in SBB would get tournament consideration.

* When I say lesser I only mean from a statistical profile (Kenpom/net ratings).

199. Gosh, we have to be so much better than bottom third.

Interior defense is lacking, helping CCU to shoot 60% at the half.

Fix that and shot a little better and we win.

That’s Nate Ross. Coached here at App under Cremins and possibly Cantwell. He’s awful and apparently just makes stats up. You can read how I really feel about him over on the Sunbelt board

Sounds like he's lost any allegiance to App he may have once had. Just muted the T.V. Again, I appreciate the semi-impartial way our announcers handle the role at our home games.

You don’t make 100% of the shots you don’t take. Or something like that

Nate is a grad school classmate of mine and works very hard at his craft. He’s pretty much the CCU “voice” the past couple years.

Glad he has friends, still a homer.

Indeed. Our bigs don't have the best hands tonight either. Still time to make a run.
