If he did it with their football team, it'd be more of a story. I don't care for anything UNC, but I don't care much about NC natives rooting for them

Reading some of the comments, it feels like they did it just to spite app fans.

It’s been well known that he’s a Tar Heel basketball fan. He’s a die App football fan. There are several on this very board who are the same way.

This will make the closet state & duke fans get their panties all in a bundle.

I don't like it, but you bet your ass if it was us playing UNC, he wouldn't be in the Holes locker room. He'd be in ours singing with the team.

The other musician guy though -- he'd be giving Roy a massage in the locker room...

So… Luke was a UNC fan before he went to college. I think it’s safe to assume a lot of App folks were the same way. And Luke used his fame to do a cool thing. Can’t blame him. I’m jealous. Looks like a lot of fun.

I grew up a Duke fan. Yes I have a sorted past. Long before K. When Lefty would bring Davidson in there and give ‘‘em fits. After my infusion of black and gold (not yeller) I watched ASU in Cameron in my App gear. If K had asked me for a photo shoot I would have been like a possum all the way.

A friend of mine UNC grad. His son an App grad and bleeds black and gold. My friend, his son and grand sons go to APP UNC baseball game. They see UNC QB1 a few seats down. Grandad takes the boys (5&7)down and says hello. They were excited to meet Maye. And he is very gracious and takes pictures with the kids. Grandad explains his son went to ASU but the boys pull for UNC some too. Oldest says “no grandad we go for App” Maye laughed he knew grandad just got embarrassed.

Luke seems like a cool, well-adjusted dude who likes to have fun and cheer for his favorite teams.

Not nearly as bad as that bum Eric Church prancing around on the UNC sidelines when we beat their tails in Chapel Hill. But still gross.

Our basketball program will never be anything more than an afterthought as long as a portion of our alumni exchange their black and gold for blue come January.

Man, y'all gotta get over this stuff. These guys can cheer for whoever they want. I can bet almost everyone on this board has other teams they pull for. Y'all get butthurt over the silliest things.

Another ridiculous thread in an attempt to dictate the behavior of others. I couldn't care less. Combs has been a great ambassador for App State. I couldn't care less if he likes another team also.

I had never heard or seen an Appalachian contest of any kind u til I got there in 1970. UNC Duke State Tenn UK and yes Notre Dame dominated what I could see or hear. I was a fan of Notre Dame football and UNC basketball. My allegiance to App started then…but I still watch other teams play and even pull for Them against certain opponents. It is not blasphemy to be a fan of another team…..I just put App first and I do financially and emotionally.

Until our program breaks out of mediocrity we will never get a big fan following.

Hey may bleed back and gold.... But the unpardonable sin, in my book, is associating yourself with anything UNC. Folks on this board that have UNC gear...dead to me.... Celebs that cheer for UNC ...dead to me.... Celebs that take pics with UNC athletes.... Dead to me.... It's a hatred that runs deep deep deep in my family. So it's all in good fun but these pics remind me of the girlfriend that says she didn't cheat on the boyfriend because it was oral only....

Agree on Luke. And I don’t necessarily disagree that this thread has gotten ridiculous. My intention was to make folks aware of it so they had knowledge about it and didn’t hear it from a Carolina fan and get caught off guard.

It was a rough 22 for App sports and our fan base feels tense and ripe for a fight. I’m as frustrated as everyone else, but don’t think we should turn on ourselves. We should be figure out how to turn all of this energy into something productive.
