I was thinking I was done watching basketball for the season, but I’ve been pulled back in. Dammit.

Georgia Southern has won 3 of their last 4 against South Alabama, Coastal, and Marshall losing to Old Dominion Saturday.
Not that Dustin Kerns isn't keenly aware, but if we have a 2nd half lead we have absolutely got to keep our foot on the gas. Watching this team build a 20 point lead by playing aggressive and rebounding, then watching them switch back to a pack line - jack up a 3, don't try to rebound on the offensive side of the floor, and everybody get back - and watching the lead dwindle to 2 possessions was the most infuriating thing to watch Saturday.

Yep. Slowing down the offense (even more than normal) and going back to our man defense nearly cost us Saturday. Never stop doing something that is working.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 5:21 pmGeorgia Southern has won 3 of their last 4 against South Alabama, Coastal, and Marshall losing to Old Dominion Saturday.

When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

This next few weeks is such a great opportunity for the team to stake a place in the Sunbelt standings. Top 4 placement probably looks like 12-6. I felt like Kerns really has his teams going about this time of the year so excited to see what this weekend brings.
I really like the lineups he's been going with as of late. Other then Eads I'm not really sure anyone else is missing out on minutes they should otherwise be getting at the moment... The teams KenPom rating is obviously meh but App's losses have all been to pretty solid teams from December onward. In-fact the teams record to this point looks a lot like last years and they ended with a very solid conference result.

We're not missing anything with Eads from what I've seen in the past.

No doubt the last two games provide hope that things are settling in with lineups and how this team wants/needs to play. Sometimes wins can mask issues and we have shown, even in the two recent wins, that pressure gets to us and we are still struggling on inbounds plays under that pressure.

Which is crazy because he played in every game as a freshman, and 28 games last year... what happened? My gut feels that he hasnt recovered from injury. I mean, Teasett was getting minutes over him.
And we were loaded at guard his freshman and sopohomore seasons. Delph, Forrest, Gregory, Almonacy, Harcum, brown etc...He cracked that 6 guard lineup but cant crack Boykin Gregory Harcum and Brown now.

9 minutes per game, 35% from the floor, 26% from 3, 10% from the FT line and 2.4 points per game. We're not missing much.

Still concerned about full court pressure. We don’t handle it well, thus, we will see more of it from those that can bring it.

I feel like that's been a problem since the Jim Fox era.Cro-Magnon App wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 6:33 pmStill concerned about full court pressure. We don’t handle it well, thus, we will see more of it from those that can bring it.
