And so it begins…back to back road games Thursday vs Marshall and Saturday vs Southern Miss.

We play Marshall Thursday and so miss Saturday.
Both on the road.

Students are still out for break, hopefully that helps.

They are 11-2 so far. Must be pretty good. Only losses are to UNCG & Queens.
Hopefully our tough games on our nonconference schedule will make a difference.

Marshall home attendance is head and shoulders better than ours. I don’t know much about Huntington as a city but there’s no reason Boone and Watauga county population doesn’t support App the same way.

Down 1 at the under 8. This game is very winnable but the talent disparity is obvious. Marshall’s margin of error is much larger than ours.

Huntington population is 46,842 and sits in two counties of combined pop of around 134,000 and the metro area is 361,000. On top of that their river port is the second busiest inland port in the country. Maybe they are shipping 'em in to watch the game.

Boone is 19,000, Watauga is 54,000 and from what I can tell the county is the same as the Boone, NC Micropolitan Statistical Area. Is W. Jefferson, N. Wilkesboro or Lenoir close enough to add attendance much? Some, maybe, but not much in my view? The ASU-Hickory campus might help us bring in more of the Hickory area, but that is still a 45 min drive and that is years into the future. Are those students going to be paying athletic fees?

I know we’ll hang around because Kerns teams never give up but Marshall is just better.
