Re: Southeastern Campbell State MBB mini/megathread
I don't know the answers but it amazes me that the crowds are still this small. The team looks good. I can see them making a run at the conference championship and the NCAA bid. JMU will probably be the toughest out but the SunBelt Tournament should be a lot of fun. I made it Saturday/Sunday. The team is talented and long and I thought fun to watch.
The pep band never plays the fight song - Hi yi yikas. It should play every timeout. THE PEP BAND HAS TO TAKE THE LEAD and for goodness sake give the students better seats. Holmes is a great basketball arena. Line the students on the far side from the camera. No tickets are being sold give the students a great memory/experience. If we start winning, let the Johnny come lately band wagon jumper sit in the worst seats in the house.
ANYONE THAT DIDN"T MAKE THE GAME YOU ARE MISSING A PRETTY GOOD TIME.

I'd say all 3 of these teams are more challenging opponents than the weekend home slate we just finished. Next 3 games will give us more clarity on what kind of season we will be having

I doubt we go 3-0 in this stretch, probably 1-2, but optimistic we can get 2. I think if we can get more of the inside shots to drop, we’ll be in good shape. Just need one or two to get hot. I think the formula out there is correct, when the shots start falling, we’ll be hard to beat.

Re: Southeastern Campbell State MBB mini/megathread
I felt as if the athletics department dropped the ball on basketball this weekend. I know it was announced at the football game, but that was basically the only promotion I saw of the free admission. There should have been a massive student/fan promotion for Saturday. Hell, we coulda had 1/2 price beer from the leftovers we had after the ODU game. Ticket giveaways; 1/2 off season tickets with any amount of yosef club donation at the door; Raffle for 2023 football season ticket with admission, etc... These are just ideas I have came up with in 5 minutes. Football social media should have promoted the basketball game imo. Many fans don't follow the basketball social media. People really enjoy the games when they go, we just got to do more to get them there.

I think it's time for Zocko. Surely our highest ranked recruit ever can break a 10 deep rotation. Offers from Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Miss St. and Xavier along with other big programs but cant get PT? Maybe he's injured. Or just a freshman and not ready, but that's hard to believe given the teams we've played so far.

It sure would be nice to know about things like that as a yosef club member.... What are the requirements to get into this room?

Winning consistently year over year will bring the students and other fans eventually. But it will take multiple years of winning to convince the fans that this is not just another Lucy/Charlie Brown moment yet AGAIN.

3-0 heading into this past weekend
19-14
17-12 (NCAA Tourney)
18-15
I don't believe winning consistently all of a sudden solves attendance issues. If so, Saturday should have easily been 5k+ based on our consistent winning the last 3 years

Agreed. Hard to believe a fringe 4 star and highest rated recruit can't get minutes when we have had inconsistent offense and play from the guard spots this season.311neers wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 3:03 pmI think it's time for Zocko. Donovan played 10 mpg with 2 starts his Freshman year when he was at the time our highest rated recruit.
Delph played 19 mpg with 19 starts his freshman year after having interest from Tennessee and Kansas State late in his recruiting cycle but he stuck with us

Those years were ok. But if we have people who believe consistent winning are those Numbers , then that is an underlying issue. Being from NC -14-16 D-1 wins - ain’t gunna bring people in.

Re: Southeastern Campbell State MBB mini/megathread
No one will show if we continue to lose to the Campbells and DeafandBlindU's of the world. It's also just hard for anyone outside of an hour drive to make weeknight games. It's really on the students getting more involved which has happened over the past 5 years. Move the students to the sidelines and keep winning. Would be awesome to see a 20 win season, this might be the one. Oh and play Zocko, what do we have to lose?pop5app wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 9:56 amHurricaneYosef wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 9:40 am3-0 heading into this past weekend

Re: Southeastern Campbell State MBB mini/megathread
It just doesn't make sense because he is a STUD. Guy had offers from potential elite 8 programs but can't crack a 6 guard rotation in the SBC? He played game 1, so hopefully he's healthy. Put him in to see if he can spark something when we go on those 7 min no scoring droughts hahahaha. I feel like he will start to get some time as we get into the grind of the season.HurricaneYosef wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 9:44 amAgreed. Re: Southeastern Campbell State MBB mini/megathread
This, the one thing you do have with low attendance is flexibility. Move the students courtside, opposite the player benches: all season tix holders can fit in the other side for sure. Fill in behind the baskets down low with student overflow or 5.00 tix. Oh and don't miss 6 shots at the rim and hit 50% of your free throws ...311neers wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 10:35 amNo one will show if we continue to lose to the Campbells and DeafandBlindU's of the world. Honestly, the attendance is disappointing, but its not that bad. Much better than 2019. Best case scenario we get 3000-3500 for a weeknight game and 4000-4200 for a Saturday night game. Only Carolina or Duke could fill HCC.

Re: Southeastern Campbell State MBB mini/megathread
I watched both Friday and Saturday games. We seem to miss A LOT of layups and shots from less than 3 feet. We need to be able to finish at the rim and hit free throws. That being said, we are much more competitive and fun to watch than when I was in school in early 90's.
