Yes. This is the most balanced team I’ve ever seen at App. I really like the poise and IQ of boykin…smart move by the staff to bring in a veteran point guard who can shoot, distribute, and lead. His decision making is much better than our all conference guards we’ve had in recent years.

Yes so far we have a better mix that Kerns can put out there. We don't have bigs who are liabilities on the offensive end. This team should look even better in a month.app97 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 10:06 pmYes. Listening online in office while finishing some work. Closed laptop when I heard the App announcer say Louisville hit shot and won at buzzer. Thought they lost until I got home and came to the site. What a nice surprise!

Almost the same here, was at work fixing stuff and got a final alert that Louisville had won. Looked at the phone for something else and hour later and the App twitterverse was exploding.

After all the uncertainty around App's personnel coming into this season, what a great start for the team. Louisville fans are poor-mouthing their squad, but it's still a marquis win for App.
Congrats to Kerns and his staff for leading, and to our players for buying into his plan and working hard to make it happen!

Man, great win. Extremely fortunate to hang on. Our kids were completely gassed in the last 6 mins. Everything coming up short on shots and Louisville blowing by us. Thank goodness for the big lead.
We have some bigs that can move and shoot. Athletic. Nice to see

Great win for App! Love the direction of the program. Pack the Holmes Center on Friday!! Show this team how much they're appreciated.

Best mix of balance and athleticism that a Kerns team has shown. This really is a fun group to watch. The way they played in the first half was the best I've seen from an App team in a while. The second half left a lot to be desired especially down the stretch. Nevertheless, this is going to be an interesting season. The Belt already has two ACC wins and a SEC win.
Big weekend coming up with three games in three days against some good competition. Campbell comes in 1-1 with a 6 point loss at NC State. Kennesaw State is 2-1 with a 10 point loss at Florida. SE LA is also 2-1 with their loss an 11 point defeat at Colorado State (3-0).

Really nice win. Tough second half at times, but win is a win. No amount of practice can replicate in-game minutes so great to see them pull down some wins as they coalesce around some steady lineups. Great to see them pull out to a large lead when not hitting 3's as well. If they can start hitting at a higher clip this team will be very tough to beat.
The bench is deep which is a nice change of pace. Justin Abson looks like he could be very special.

Team shot poorly overall, got outrebounded by 10, but where they shine is 10 less turnovers and only allowing 2 fastbreak points. If the shots start to fall this can be a very formidable team.
If Abson can get his turnovers down I predict he'll be starting by January.
Looking forward to Saturday night, seeing them in person.
Let's get a good crowd for these guys!

Same. I’ve bought in to Kerns’ process. Certainly the transfer portal helps expedite that process so much faster. You can get the pieces in place in one or two off seasons that would’ve taken you 5 years to recruit. We finally have multiple shooters and a big man who can score and block shots. We looked terrible down the stretch but held on juuuuust long enough. As someone said before, our best player would be their #10 guy. So hats off to them.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 11:10 pmI’m really looking forward to less hero ball this year.
Next up,
Campbell on Friday
Kennesaw State on Saturday
SE Louisiana on Sunday
Tough stretch playing 3 in a row but a great opportunity to get some “back to back” tournament prep and hopefully play a lot of young guys.

No chance our best player is their number 10 guy!!!!!!!!!!APPdiesel wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 10:53 amSame. I’ve bought in to Kerns’ process. I agree. The comment referenced above actually stated that our best player is only slightly better than OUR 10th player. It was noting our depth.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 11:10 amNo chance our best player is their number 10 guy!!!!!!!!!!APPdiesel wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 10:53 amSame. This really was a great win.
DK said it in the post game, we led the ENTIRE game. On the road. Against an ACC program that’s got final fours and national championship banners hanging from the rafters.
Louisville was 0-2 with their backs against the wall coming into this one, we probably got their best shot. And we still left with the W.
