App is heading to Phoenix in December. UC Santa Barbara has been good in recent years
I hope this tournament isn’t streamed on Flo Hoops or some other site like that

I believe it's a one-game deal. And last year it was on Flo Hoops. Gonzaga played Texas Tech in it, which was picked up by CBS.
I imagine/hope this is paired with one or more road games out west.

Yep...last season had ten teams (five games over three days) on the card. Gonzaga was the "pick of the litter" so to speak, but there were others...

Why? To free up some space for Duke and/or UNC to come to Boone this coming season? Haha

Maybe, just maybe, to allow Kerns & Company to integrate six (6) new players into the team and into his system rather than stumble through a home game with an elite SEC team and embarrass themselves in front of a potentially huge home turnout. Maybe Coach Pearl was uncomfortable playing on the road in Nov. or early Dec. with only seven returning players from last season.
Maybe both!

Hmmm, Auburn was scared to play in the confines of Holmes...

Conference Schedule will be announced tomorrow.
Wonder if the Sun Belt is going to keep their pod scheduling for hoops and (if so) how it will work.
Would not be surprised if App's new partner is Marshall. Could see:
App/Marshall
JMU/ODU
Coastal/Ga Southern
Troy/Ga State
South Al/Southern Miss
ULM/ULL
Ark St/Texas St
Or Marshall could replace Little Rock, Southern Miss replace UTA, keep the VA schools together and rest the same making
Texas St/Southern Miss partners and Ark St/Marshall partners

I’d love to see them go away from travel partners. Go to home away against everyone in the East and split the divisional round robin with two weekends of 4 games against West Division opponents. One home weekend and one away weekend.

That first weekend, of At Marshall followed by at Southern Miss, is an 11 1/2 hour drive. I am sure there is a reason but doesn't seem optimal.

The conference is trying to avoid Mickey Mouse scheduling that has plagued the league in recent years. It's nearly impossible to do travel partners with 14 teams and basically have divisional scheduling.
One hope is that with a more equitable and non-cookie-cutter schedule, teams use charters which in turn would help the league with recruiting, especially with how wonky commercial flying is right now. Good news is that with more regional divisions (although hoops won't use divisional standings), it'll reduce the total number of flights.
Every team has one or two brutal travel weekends. Southern Miss has an ODU and Texas State road swing in one weekend, which is the worst in the league.
If the Sun Belt wants to get multiple NCAA bids and win tournament games (which would make everyone a lot more money in tourney units), then it needs to schedule like it.

Coastal, Southern, Marshall, and Georgia State being on Thursday is by design right? Only one "rival" on a Saturday at home and that's JMU.

Not the most appealing non-conference home games, but opportunities to build some interest and make the game day experience appealing.
7 non-conference games played while the students are still in Boone.
3 home games on consecutive days the same weekend of senior day for football.
Winnable games. Which at this point I feel is most important. Sure fans would love to see ACC schools play in Boone, and it would draw a large crowd, but that does nothing long term unless it could happen on a more frequent basis. We want people to come back because the team wins, especially students. Let them see those athletic fees are being put to good use.
