Hotels in Pensacola

Unread post by AtlantaMountaineer » Fri Feb 25, 2022 5:41 pm

I am planning on going down for the basketball tournament next week. Hotels in downtown Pensacola near the Pensacola Bay Center appear limited and hotels on the beach are quite pricey. My niece tells me its Spring Break. Does anyone know where the team hotel is or have any recommendations on where to stay? Thanks.

Go here and page down to a Yelp response...

Hilton Garden Inn Pensacola Airport - Medical Center
4.4 miles away from Pensacola Bay Center

This HGI is apparently nice enough but it's the
tourney venue that just barely gets a 3 out of 5
rating from event attendees. How did the Sun Belt
settle on this location to showcase SBC Basketball?
SBC...Beach b4 Basketball.

Rented a condo on the beach , reasonable price all things considered.

Personally, I would like to see 2 permanent locations...with the new future Sunbelt. Have tourney at a location as centrally located to teams that make up the East side of conference...and have tourney as centrally located to teams that make up west locations. Sign alternating 3 years contracts.

Greenville has SEC Women’s (2023-25), same week as SB.

I wonder if the SEC women's tournament gets more attendance than the Sunbelt men's tourney.. there are some really good teams on the women's side of the SEC...Staley has USC playing at high level....and if LSU coach replicates what she did at Baylor.

I’ll be honest. I can’t wait to drive down to the beach.

I'm not looking forward to the drive but yes , it's a great part of the world and an excuse to make it a week long vacation.
