MBB vs Georgia State, Sat 2/12 4pm
Georgia State making a bit of a resurgence winning 4 of their last 5 (home loss to Troy on 2/3).
By the tape, GSU is scoring 71 ppg giving up 66, we're scoring 67 giving up 63. Still need to watch out for senior guard Corey Allen averaging 14 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists. Adrian Delph is still balling at 17.3, 5.3, and 1.8. He scored 29 at Georgia State.
BPI gives us a 65% chance to win this game.
Hopefully we keep the free throw shooting going. Shot 82% from the stripe vs Georgia Southern. We shot 69% against Georgia State last time we played them.

We’ve come back from deficits before. Let’s make a run here with 14 minutes to play.

With TX State win, we drop to 2nd at the moment. Troy down 2 early in the 2nd. If they win they move ahead of us too.

Heck of an effort late just couldn’t make ‘em when we really needed to.

That’s the 4th game in a row we have found ourselves down by double digits. We are 2-2 in those.

From my seat, not enough energy. Going through the motions. I’m not saying they weren’t playing hard, just not enough spunk/spark/underdog mentality. It was almost like we were too comfortable. If we played every game like we knew we would have to outwork them and had just some more enthusiasm, we would win 50% more games.

16 first half points isn’t going to win you many games. Not our best day. Believe we can win the Sunbelt tournament though.

Actually, this is exactly how we look almost every game. Some we win some we loose.

Re: MBB vs Georgia State, Sat 2/12 4pm
IMHO, I do no believe depth is the number 1 issue. It is an issue. All if our losses I believe are due to poor shooting%. We are an awesome defensive team. IMO, we get behind in most first halves this year is that we do not have a great FG shooting team (until the 2nd half ..lol) In addition, we do not have a big man down low that can score. I am not saying we need a big man to give us 20 a night (would be nice)....we just need one to give us 10 or 12 in a consistent basis from all the missed 3s. Also need more penetration to dish out to open players for 3s. I am actually surprised at how good we seem to be at 3 making 3s in 2nd half of games given they are not all clean open 3s. With that said, team battles every night and plays hard. In the second half , 1 running for the lose ball and diving on the ground trying to get it is just one of many examples of not giving up. 1 got called for a foul, but the effort makes you want to root for this team.

Re: MBB vs Georgia State, Sat 2/12 4pm
I’m not sure if I’ve seen this opinion/observation/old guy knows nothing really about our team. Is our defensive intensity/approach causing issues on the offensive end of the court? We play great defense obviously and I love that aspect of our game but if you exert so much energy, often for the duration of many opponent offensive possessions does that adversely affect the legs when you go back down the court? We do so much switching and cutting and bumping often for close to or more than 30 second stretches and then go down the court and move a good bit looking for open shots. It’s got to wear on the legs especially (as noted) since we have very little depth.
