MBB @ Georgia State, Thu 1/20 7pm

App State 10-9
Georgia State 6-7 (4 games cancelled)

Panther guard Corey Allen is averaging 15ppg. As a team GSU is averaging 73 and we’re giving up 63. Conversely we’re scoring 68 and they’re giving up 67.

BPI gives Georgia State a 70% chance to win.

Looking at their overall schedule I just don’t see a signature win that’s got the BPI so high on them. NET rankings App State is 194 they’re 260.

They've played much of the year without their full contingent of players. They will probably be at full strength when they play us.

Yeah and they returned almost everyone from last year's team. On paper they looked like the Sun Belt's best team heading into this season, but we had plenty of success against them last year so this one should be interesting.

Gotta keep our rebounders in the offensive paint tonight. Going to need all the second chance shots we can get and we HAVE to be better at shooting free throws. Gah we have missed some free throws at critical times this season.

Hit free throws, stay out of foul trouble.

Hope we start to see more good minutes from the bench, definite opportunity. It’s def tough to find a rhythm though if you’re playing a handful of minutes. Not sure G State will be that opportunity but it’d be nice to see more contributors down the stretch.

Win tonight puts team in great position for one of the conference byes.

The only wildcard with the seeding is if you have a couple teams (like G State) get ordered lower because of games missed and you end up with a stronger last seed, but nothing can be done about that anyway.

RTRPI.com has us at a 55.7% chance of losing by a score somewhere between 77-63 and 80-64.

Funny thing, the same RTRPI.com still has CCU's power rating 11 points higher than the Apps even after
we defeated them twice in the same week. CCU Power Rank #181; App State PR #192. Statisticians!
At least they don't have us mired deep in the bottom 200s to early 300s like much of last season.

so, Xavion Brown was wearing warmups a few games ago and seemingly almost ready to come back according to Kerns, although he has not traveled with the team in the last two games and was not in warmups at home against Coastal. I was hoping to see him out there soon...hope he hasn't taken a step backwards with healing.

How can a team so strong fundamentally on the defensive side of the ball seem to lack the basics on offense? No ball movement, weak screens, forced shots, poor movement away from the ball. The effort on defense doesn’t match what’s going on on the other side of the court. (Posted Halftime)

Taking highly contested shots, if we aren’t hitting threes our offense is brutal to watch.
