Unread post by scatman77 » Wed May 12, 2021 7:50 am

Mark Cascio has joined the women's staff. He was formerly men's coach at Catholic High in Baton Rouge.

We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Hope he is a good pickup as an assistant...but wrong Catholic. Cascio looks to be coming to us from Catholic HS in Baton Rouge.

I stand corrected; need to read more closely! Thanks!

Huskie3, not directing this at you, per se. But why do people intentionally write jargon that many readers don’t understand?

Director of Basketball Operations

It takes a few more keystrokes but makes your message so much clearer.

Rant over.

Nice new opportunity for Cristina Centeno! She has the requisite skills to make someone a fine head coach after a few years in a more competitive program or two. Army isn't to that point yet, but they have the resources to get there plus a completely new staff. Apparently, Traversi cleaned house...no holdovers.

Per the job description, the new coaches were to be on the job as of 5/24. I'm assuming that Sam is staying. Cascio is apparently on the job but probably not moved to WNC yet. Our WBB web page still lists K.Dempsey as Ass't Coach/RC and no listing at all for DOBO. The train must be off the rails somewhere.

If Dempsey does move back to DOBO, which is where she started, they dare not cut her salary unless they can justify the demotion. Also, if they do move her, they 100% need to hire a woman as assistant. Not that three male assistant coaches couldn't be successful, but I don't think the "look" of it would be right for App State and our diversity chancellor.

So which is it? I read the link. Is it correct? The guy comes from a boy’s Catholic high school in Louisiana.
