MBB vs #23 Purdue Thursday 11/15 @ 5pm

Unread post by 87ASUgrad » Wed Nov 14, 2018 1:26 pm

App State men's basketball is back in action in the Charleston Classic on Thursday against Purdue. The Boilermakers are ranked #23 currently. If our guys cut down on the turnovers that they had at Alabama (22) they will have a good shot at this one I think. ESPN is giving Purdue a 79% win percentage on their matchup predictor. The game is being carried on ESPN2. Go APP!!

I’m not too familiar with Purdue beyond what I saw in NCAA tournament last year. Hoping that we can continue to execute offensively but do a better job on turnover margin, defensive rebounding, and free throws. If any one of those had gone our way we’d likeky have walked away a winner on Sunday. This team is talented.

33-22 at the half. The Northeastern zone is causing lots of problems for Bama.

I would have loved to have gotten Bama on a neutral court.

Turnovers already looking to be a factor, as usual.

Not a good start for App on the ESPN2 today. Can this TV camera get any farther away? Are they set up on the Ravenel Bridge in Charleston?

Not a good look so far on natl tv. We don’t even appear to be looking to score sometimes. The crisp passes, wide open shots, and lock down defense from Purdue makes them look like they’re playing against guys who are standing still. Hoping for adjustments.

Often turnovers that set the other team up for easy baskets too. Our best scorers sometimes try to do too much and end up destroying momentum.

36-21 Purdue with 4:44 to go in the half. These turnovers are ridiculous. We do not value the ball nearly enough!
