App vs the Red Wolves MBB

Game is at 8PM on ESPNU. Hopefully the stream is decent.
The two programs have gone in different directions record wise since this game (so much hope :p). Arkansas State has won every game since their loss to us and seems primed to compete for the Sunbelt title. We're.... struggling....
We've been inconsistent all season so it's tough to tell where a win will come from BUT we've proven we can beat them, so no reason to think we couldn't do the same again. There are still nine conference games left this season for the team to improve.
What went right last time...
1) We shot well from three point range (42%)
2) We outshot them from the free throw line.
3) We kept the rebounding and turnover differential to a minimum.
4) Shabazz was on fire.

I believe game is on ESPN3 not ESPNU.

A-State is at RPI #71 and climbing; ASU is at RPI #287 and falling. A win tonite for the Apps should give them incentive to keep battling.

Patrick Good is reinstated and back with the team, so it looks like he was "wrong place wrong time."

You're correct it's ESPN3 not ESPNU. Feed is really good quality.

Up by one. Shooting well, but Kinney unfortunately picked up a couple quick fouls.
Arkansas state is collapsing on Shabazz every time he goes to the basket. Hopefully we can take advantage.

It's always tough to tell as an observer, but felt like we played with a lot of genuine intensity. Not getting lazy on long possessions, team rebounding on the defensive end, taking smart shots, etc. We had a few tough turnovers, but we're up at half which is about all we can ask.

Up five at the 6:31 mark. Free throw differential has been big in this game and opposite of last game.

Not sure if we will win this game, but I agree with the poster that said "A State is trash" last time we beat them. I find it hard to believe that they are near the top of the conference. Not much of an offensive flow and lots of one on one stuff from the red wolves. I just wish our guys could pull away from someone and close out. As soon as we get a 4 to 6 point lead, we give up a big shot.

I know it sucked, but it looks like we're forming a[n] "historically popular in college" sports rivalry with those dirty Arkansans.

But, it was our best loss of the season.

If we take last night's intensity to Little Rock, we will win Monday night.

I usually don't complain about officiating, but a 33-23 foul differential (for a team that was leading most of the game), plus losing four players to fouls late in the game, was too much to overcome. The game was officiated much too tightly ... to our detriment.

I don't disagree but we usually don't drive the ball inside and that causes foul discrepancies.

This program is at a point where we now have to talk about good L's v.s. bad L's. A loss is a loss IMO, and our team just isn't good enough to compete and finish conference games. We can point to reasons in the past for this team being young, we can also talk about wait until two years from now when they have experience. The fact today is that this team just isn't good.

We went inside the entire game and were successful... then at some point in the second half, the refs seemingly stopped calling fouls on stAte.

We should have had this one, but we lost our flow when the bigs were in foul trouble. Teams arent letting Shabazz do anything if he starts hot. He disappeared a bit in the second half. Hate to say it was an officials game, but it was. Look at Saturday games and Monday games for foul calls. There is a major discrepancy.
Four Monday SB games: 41 fouls called per game
@ UTA - 44 fouls
Ark St - 47 fouls
@ Ga St - 36 fouls
Tex St - 37 fouls
LR - ???
Five Saturday SB games: 44.2 fouls called per game
@ Tex St - 35 fouls
LR - 28 fouls
@ CCU - 43 fouls
@ GS- 56 fouls
UTA - 47 fouls
@ Ark St - 56 fouls
After looking, its doesn't appear as major. Tex St doesn't fit that hot take. The combined 28 fouls for the Little Rock game brings down that average substantially, but three Saturday games with more than 47 fouls called is noticeable. Hopefully another low foul called Little Rock game will fit my narrative.
