SoCon is a better basketball league most years. The SoCon is not an inferior athletic league in the majority of sports. It just happens to sponsor FCS football.
I’m not sure. We used to dominate the all-sports trophy(ies) in the SoCon. Presently, we struggle to be middle of the pack in the Sun Belt. Hopefully, the competition has gotten better, and we haven’t slipped.

And we are still a SoCon member in some sports.

This is best year for SoCon basketball in a very very long time...since The Jerry West maybe.

The SoCon is better in basketball this year but I don't think they've been ranked higher as a conference previously since App moved up. Track & Field is definitely stronger in the Sun Belt. I'd say Baseball is definitely stronger in the Sun Belt although So Con baseball isn't bad.

RPI:

2014-2015 - SunBelt - 20th / SoCon - 23rd
2015-2016 - SunBelt - 17th / SoCon - 18th
2016-2017 - SunBelt - 13th / SoCOn - 15th

Neither league knocks it out of the park as far as RPI goes. But the Sun Belt has better financed and overall a better league most of the years.

I’m not sure using a different metric would change the point, but even the NCAA eventually had to admit the RPI is antiquated. It doesn’t measure how you play so much as how you schedule.

Caught part of a radio show last night where they were praising the coach at Presbyterian .Inherited a really poor program and has turned them around very quickly. They thought he should have been BigSouth COY.

yep, Kerns has been mentioned several times on here. He is also in the Mike Young coaching tree (spent time at Wofford twice as an assistant), was an assistant for Buzz at UT for a year, and is from nearby Kingsport, TN. Based on resume, on-court success, and roots in the area, I feel like Kerns and Lundy at Queens (from Galax, VA) would be good candidates when the time comes.

What about Will Wade? Young, good W-L record at multiple stops... really seems to have a knack for recruiting! And I have a hunch he’ll be available.

I'm glad we didn't get shut out of the SB tourney and I hope we win today and even make a run in the tourney, but my fear is that this will be good enough to keep Fox around because our standards are so low in MBB.

Watching Gardner Webb and Radford in Big South tournament. Both these coaches look like they know what they are doing.
