We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

We're 17-11, after loosing most all players from last year. I would have taken that all day to start this season. It's a one bid league. We have as good a chance to win the tournament as any team. Pop5app, do you not remember we won 27 games last year. You say year after year.....

South Alabama had a guy score 46 points tonight, was 11-11 from the FT line, but they still lost. Had South Alabama played defense, they’d have won. I’d take a great defense over a great FT shooting team.

Say what you like. But good teams hit their free throws and Run some kind of offense. The team last year was good but still sucked at the line.

JMU now alone in first, riding a 9 game conference win streak. Haven’t lost in conference play since we beat them. That’s a team that lost most of their team and coach.

Losing most of your players is not an excuse. That is the reality of college basketball today.B30020 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 7:41 pmWe're 17-11, after loosing most all players from last year. Not game planning or running a set offense when it’s needed is a problem.

Kerns is a really good coach. He’s at a program comparable to one of the mid tier Major League Baseball teams who have to work within the constraints of a smaller salary structure. There was no way he was going to find 7 or so new players who were basically scrap heap guys (if they were great they would be at bigger schools making $$). We have a good team who is about the same as 50 other mid majors.

Remember that European that got hurt before the season. He actually may have found the players to pull it off, it just didn’t work out.
We are still a team that can beat any one else in this conference.

Just curious, how many D1 schools lost a starting point guard, starting center, starting power forward, backup point guard, sixth man guard, another starting guard due to transfersASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 1:26 amLosing most of your players is not an excuse. which is difficult to plan for....and has a winning record in conference? excluding Gregory as graduation and a coach should be planning for that.
JMU maybe...but think they may have had more graduations that were contributing...could be wrong.
I get that transfers are a part of college basketball.... however losing 6 or 7 that were not planned graduations...that is quite a few to replace..
Kerns has done a hell of a job especially if the money pot that Stonewall referenced for NIL was that small.

Unfortunately what we’re watching might be the future for most mid major teams.
A constant rebuild.
If you manage to find success, everyone leaves, and you can’t afford to buy the best players to replace them.
You can either afford to win or you can’t.

Re: MBB vs Marshall Sat, 2/22 1:00pm
We lost 8 guys last year that still had eligibility left to return. Only 3 of those, albeit probably some of the best, left for money (Abson, Spillers, Harcum). So, while it sucks to lose guys due to lack of money, we still had 5 leave for other reasons. It is very impressive that we are 17-11 after losing 8 and Gregory. But yes, if we had a little more money we have a better chance of retaining guys and find better talent/fits in the portal.
