Re: Recruiting, 2013
Per Twitter, PF Marcus "Marki" Bryan (6-8, 215) of Ravenscroft School in Raleigh has recommitted to Appalachian State. Bryan was one of the late summer commitments, but didn't sign in November and eventually decommitted. I'm not sure what's going on behind the scenes, but if I had to guess, it has something to do with scholarship availability.

The new 2013 Basketball recruiting page is now up and linked from the main menu. The master list is there and our signees/offers have pages built for each of them. You can find the page under Sports-Basketball-Recruiting. We will post notices of updates and changes in this thread. Hope you enjoy all the information being in one place.
On to baseball.

Broughton is a great HS program and big performances in the playoffs are encouraging. There will likely be minutes at PG up for grabs next year, I hope he can step up for us.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
Graham's team did not win but you have to love this comment from the Charlotte Observer;
"Olympic worked to a 44-36 lead early in the fourth quarter, but Broughton point guard Devonte’ Graham, an Appalachian State recruit, simply willed his team back into the game. He finished with 23 points, on 9-of-25 shooting, and had seven rebounds, six assists and two steals."

I am looking forward to Graham and the other Freshmen coming in next season. They do have some promise.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
Anybody who watched Graham Saturday night vs. Olympic knows how big a difference he's going to make in ASU next year: 23 points, 7 assists, 6 boards, 2 steals, one huge 3 to tie it with a minute to go. This guy is a true point guard and I honestly think had he kept his recruitment open, he'd be looking at some SEC offers.
Jason Capel deserves some credit on this one!

Re: Recruiting, 2013
I saw that last week but hadn't added him to the list yet. asumike and I were talking about it and trying to figure out who else might be leaving because we both thought we had reached out scholarship limit. I was planning to add him in the considering listing today.AppGrad78 wrote:App State still in the running for 6-7 guard Christian Hairston of Greensboro Day School, according to the News & Record of Greensboro.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
That was our best guess. I saw 4 tweets in a few minutes that night including one from him about an offer. I know we were full up and Mike has tons of insight on the program so I decided to PM the tweets. Still haven't seen anything offical on it but, again just guessing, Okam was at the top of the list.3rd wrote:Do you think it could be Okam? i remember he stopped dressing out last year, i didn't know if he was a senior i just remember he stopped "playing"firemoose wrote:I saw that last week but hadn't added him to the list yet. asumike and I were talking about it and trying to figure out who else might be leaving because we both thought we had reached out scholarship limit. I have updated the 2013 page showing SF Christian Hairston (6′ 7″ 185) of Greensboro Day School in Greensboro, NC in the "Considering" section until he makes his decision. I will update as news comes.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
OK...here's one for the books. PF Marcus "Marki" Bryan (6-8, 215) of Ravenscroft School in Raleigh ... re-committed to Appalachain State (posted Nov. 27, 2012, last posted Jan. 24, 2013).... has apparently un-committed again (see tweet below). Have no idea where he plans to go or if he is even playing anywhere next season. Even saw one reference to him being a 2014 prospect. Could be academic or could be the kid is just all over the place. Who knows. I have removed him from the master list.
I looked back on his twitter and on Jan 23rd there were more than half a dozen tweets about his re-committing to App. But today is this:
marcus bryan@MrDoubleDouble
@AllStarPreps @Isaac_CurlJuice @jalenj_15 i didnt sign with app state and i wont be at app state next year...
