Gillin has done a lot of good for App during his time on the mountain. So the cat’s earned a payday and a bigger gig, if one comes around.

That said, getting some fresh blood in the AD’s office wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing.

Agreed. Hope Doug stays but a change can also be a good thing. Sometimes you need new blood.

Some original posts are like Star Magazine. Many articles are sensationalized and/or just total fabrications to generate revenue at the point of sale kiosk...😂😂

Of course he is going to be on a list of potential candidates. He was
deputy director of athletics at the University of Missouri from 2012-15 and he has a Drink connection.
Good Grief...thanks for confirming my thoughts that the post is like Star Magazine... someone listed on an article is "sniffing"..geez...

I don't know what you want me to say. I was asked for a link and provided one. Look, I am not saying that Gillin went to Columbia and applied for the job at HR. That's not how this works. They have agents to get them on lists like this or keep them off these lists. So, I said sniffing.

“ Note, this is not an official list, but names who we believe could be in the mix for the job. “

This the writers opinion of who would be good candidates. It does not indicate that Doug has contacted them or they have contacted him. Although with his history with them it wouldn’t surprise me.

I agree with 704, I’d like Gillin to outlast Everts.
I would like the next rainfall to outlast Everts.

Posting an article written on speculation and not facts is not the same as sniffing around for another job. That’s a pretty large gap to be jumping to a conclusion.

In the sports world I’d be more surprised if Doug wasn’t on people’s short list given his accomplishments.

Like most things on here we’re dealing with incomplete to speculative information and using reasonable logic to have a discussion. And that’s ok.

I would hate to have an AD leave for Missouri (who's basketball team has not won a conference game this season), and potentially loose our head coach and several players who could be returning starters. I would prefer to have an AD who was focused on keeping Kerns. But that's just me.

Bahahahaha...Rome will fall if we loose our AD...geez Louise. Tighten the panties up and have more faith. We have lost ADs in the past and will in the future. .. and so has every other program in D1...and yes there is a possibility that we will loose Kerns in the future.. maybe...maybe not.

If loosening is a real problem I’d try an Imodium.

I get why some are saying “parts is parts.” But the problem with losing a quality AD is we run the risk of hiring a doofus like Charlie Cobb.

True. And that could have been applied to those wanting to fire Clark during last season. But in this instance, the OP stated that the AD was looking around when in fact, he isn’t, at least not publicly. And the sole justification for stating that he was looking was based on his name being mentioned in an opinion piece.

We the folks that are on this board and others are not only fans of App, but most of us are emotionally and financially invested in the success of App as a whole. The Chancellor, AD and basketball coach in this instance see App as a form of employment. Sure, they want to be successful, but their motivations lie in success that leads to opportunities. They are responsible for personal decisions that are personal to them and their loved ones. Not us. Some of ya’ll take the personal decisions of others way too personal. (Not necessarily speaking to you 78)

People spend way too much time lamenting about what could happen and not enjoying what is happening and be grateful.

Highly doubt Gillin leaves for Mizzou. Case of big fish, small pond. Kearns will have opportunities offers this off-season, no doubt.

I don't think anybody wants any of that to happen.

But understanding it's more likely to happen than not at the level we are at if we are successful does not mean it's a desire.

Sources tell me that the Chancellor could retire this year. I think she has done an outstanding job pushing the University forward across the board but if you think otherwise it’s ok , and I don’t care. I am concerned about her successor and the likelihood of someone less willing to stand up to the anti athletics crowd. Doug will look out after his best interests as he should and I have addressed DK elsewhere.
