Apps win huge road game vs. Conway Tech! We had 17 offensive boards and James Lewis had a huge double-double, scoring and rebounding.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Everyone and I mean everyone made winning plays down the stretch in that one. Lewis dominated the glass with Mostafa out, Gregory just literally does everything, Forrest hit a huge 3 and drew the charge, Delph continues to be the guy. Aside of Akron that may be beat win of the season

“It’s a team game” might be an overused expression but for us it appsolutely applies. When we don’t have the dribble, pass, watch a guy jack a 3 we look solid. Great contributions all around. We keep this up we should be in the conference mix all season. Nice W guys!

Lewis was huge on the boards again and 19 offensive rebounds following a game with 19 is outstanding. Perhaps the stat I like best is 15 assists with only 3 turnovers. That will win a lot of games. Great sweep!

We have stretches where we play really sloppy offense and defense. Then we’ll have stretches where we’re lights out on both ends of the floor. But this team fights. Proud as hell of them. Basketball is catching
. Thursday we’re at 6-7 Georgia State, Saturday at 8-6 Georgia Southern.

25 more shots we took because of +14 offensive rebounds, and a big margin in turnovers won this game. It shows me hustle and grit.

That assist-turnover ratio is what I like to see. When’s the last time an App team had a ratio even close to that? That was a staple of Kerns’ teams at Presbyterian that I would love to see continue here.

Three times bigger than what the HTC replaced a decade ago and that arena played host to conference championships.

I will probably post this 100 times over the next 20 years, God willing. Enthusiasm makes the difference. (Great Book) Coach Kearns has Enthusiasm for our program. I hope it translates to more success. He is hitting every aspect of the program. I believe that is what it takes to be successful at this level. You need buy in from everyone; fans, players, administration, Students. I look forward to the day we have 6 home football games and 5 home Saturday Basketball games that people feel the need to be there.

I just pulled up pics of their arena. I don't know why but I was thinking they had a bigger/nicer facility than that.

It would be nice to have later in football season .. basketball games where, let's say, football is a noon game, have BB start at 6 pm. I would go to both if in town FB game. Not sure how much we control that or if two games in one day would diminish student support.

Their old "gym" had an approx 1700 capacity for basketball. Their new HTC Convo Ctr has an approx 3600 capacity for basketball--still about 80% or so smaller than our old VG in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.
Proud triple-degree App grad--Classes of '66, '70 and '81.

I know the Holmes Center is nice and more up-to-date, but lordy how I miss those raucous, rowdy, packed gym games we'd have in VG. Davidson or Marshall would roll into town and the place would be elbow to elbow, cheek to cheek, and the students would be crazy. Let Mel throw one down and run down court grinning at the crowd and it was electric!
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.
