Luke is looking at twenty plus scenarios. We are still one of them. His market value exceeds our entire PFP budget- glad some of you are finally on board with the term - but we have some advantages. Otherwise we will likely advise one or two that they need to seek playing time elsewhere. Beyond that we are working deals to retain our core and bring in 6-8 new players. Fun times.

This all makes sense. I can speculate on which 1-2 should seek playing time elsewhere, but not sure if we're talking about the known commodities only or if it includes Freshmen that we never saw on the court this season. I think Brim has a huge upside. Getting playing time as a Freshman and having an offseason under his belt, I expect him to improve the most from this season. At the beginning of the season, I could see he and Banks along with Marcus in starting roles. We'd need to add a wing playmaker and a solid post player. If adding 6-8 new players, and Kerns success in the portal, think we can get at least 2-3 impact players.Stonewall wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2026 5:35 pmLuke is looking at twenty plus scenarios. Marcus has signed with a new agent. Not a good sign.

I agree, but, could it be that we are having to give Luke more to stay so not enough money left to keep Marcus?

I suppose it could be. If it’s all about money then we probably lose them both. If not ???

I hope we can keep Wilson. Marcus is good but if he is looking for just a big pay day I am okay with him going. I feel like we can replace his production a lot easier but Wilson is one I feel like should be a top 5 player in the SBC next year if he returns.

He was a nightmare. That was a heck of a team that we struggled with.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2026 9:21 amDon't forget.....MR "Keith" JENNINGS. (ETSU) He was 5'7" and owned AppState in my years.

Jennings and Muggsy and Spud may not have made it in today’s world. They don’t fit the metric they all use now in all sports. We have a kicker on our local high school team that is 5’9” 165 lbs. that has made FGs from over 50 yds. and never missed close in except for one that was blocked after the holder couldn’t get the snap down. He is going to a small upstate school because no larger schools have made an offer, all saying he is too small. I guess Garo Yepremian would not get another in today’s game. And I’ve seen a whole bunch of small guards that aggravated bigger opposing ball handlers into numerous mistakes and frustration. Maybe Billy Beane knew what he was talking about.

UNCG is undefeated in football.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 10:01 pmIf he wants to play basketball and football, why did he commit to uncg to begin with?AppGrad20 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 9:49 pmRather big development. Dionte Neal has decommitted from UNCG after their MBB head coaching change. One of the best NC high school athletes in recent memory. NC Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior. Averaging over 35 PPG this season. Top football recruit too.
He wants to play both basketball and football. We offered him in both sports. App made his shortlist before he committed to UNCG. Should come down to us, UNC, and Boston College unless other schools come into the mix.
His build and play style reminds me a lot of Jordan Marsh.

Spring cleaning!
Hope we don't have any more.
Keep the nucleus together and get the freshman involved. Find a few portal guys to replace the senior guards.

Re: Offseason thread: recruiting, transfer portal schedule, general discussion
That’s unexpected. Picked up quite a few local mid-major offers before committing here. From his HS highlights, he looked super athletic with a good shot. Was looking forward to seeing him next year. Anyone have any insight onto why he is leaving?
Edit: I’d assume KJ Vasser medically redshirting and having two years left is a big reason why. Having McKinnon off the bench would’ve been great though.

Some folks expectations are unrealistic. No surprise there.

Again, why do we recruit these types of kids/families in the first place?
Do they not show the ego during the HS process?
