Tate has carried this team for long stretches. He is one of the better players we’ve had , all the way around. He does what he’s asked of with everything he’s got. And he came back when he had other options.

Tate’s hero ball has grown tiresome
Rough way to go out at home for him. Has given us some great moments and games.
Yeah but this ain’t the nba and hes not good enough to do what he’s been doing lately. He has given us great moments but 3 straight turnovers at the end is a killer and kerns needs to reel that in asap
You are not 100 percent wrong, but other than Huntley, who gives us better odds? I thought Conners at one point on the outside and Dodd on the inside, but I’m not so sure. Right now we’re playing the percentages and hoping for an inside straight.
Tate does need some help. He’s really our only playmaker.
If we retain Marsh, we would have a chance to win the SBC.

Kerns’ style of play is very similar to Virginia teams under Tony Bennett. The glaring difference between the two teams is the FT%. Prime Tony Bennett teams shot anywhere between 74-82% from the FT line.

Only one Kerns team has shot over 70% from FT. This year’s team is dead last in conference at 65.6%. Style of play isn’t conducive to be so poor from the line.

If we bring last years team back we are flirting with the top 25. We didn’t have the money. So everyone needs to pony up.

There is talent but they aren’t stepping up. Conners, Dodd, Threadgill, Muttilib who else you going to? Check the box scores on those guys the past four games. I wish we retained at least Marsh to help out this year for Tate. Would love to know the decision to go to Asheville and not stay when I’d think he’d have plenty of playing time this year. After this game Marsha is a top four team and we are not.

Again. Not to quibble but his hero ball at the end of this game was a killer. Yes he’s played well but bad play is bad play and as the leader of this team, he shouldn’t just get a pass for play that hurts the TEAM. I like the guy but he has to stop playing 1-5. You aren’t an asset at that point.

A source told me that it would have taken $400k to compete with the offers made on the guys we lost and our total payroll is $100k. So is that $500 k to bring everyone back ? I don’t know. I also have heard different numbers thrown around for some players but again I do not know. Being around the team quite a bit last year , Marsh was obviously not happy , for whatever reason. I don’t know what he’s getting paid now.

When someone else steps up as an option let me know. Without Tate we are a sub .500 team this season.

Tates "hero ball" as you call it ..are based upon sets instructed to run by the coach. Are there some he could pass after going to basket, sure ..
In looking at the team overall, they are missing an above average to elite PG for SBC. That would make Tates job much easier and give him more open shots...just my opinion.

A lid was on the basket today. We hardly made anything. …. Any player going in 1 on 3 just makes me wince. They have to know the numbers.

And I am not up to ponying up any money for NIL on this day and age. It’s just going to go up and up and up. Better places to give your money. But I’ll continue to watch because they are our Mountaineers.

Really ? We were undefeated at home last year. Including perhaps our all time greatest home victory.

And the SBC regular season clincher — the drubbing of Ark State.

But, but, but ..Kerns does not win any important games at home..
I am sure I am mistaken... didn't some team maybe named Auburn lose inside Holmes..could be mistaken on that one.🤣

App played five extra minutes at home Thursday night. Meanwhile, Marshall played a close game in Norfolk and had to bus from the Tidewater yto the mountains. But App is the team that is exhausted? If that’s the case, we need to hire their strength coach.
Agree. I know I’m beating a dead horse but Tate has grown more and more emboldened to just play recklessly and essentially about getting his.
Is it that or could it just be that our guard play is not good and he is trying to fill those gaps?

Tate recently had an amazing assist to Huntley to win the game which made Sport center top 10. He's one of the best to play here. It's insane to dog on him.

Also, "Kerns never wins ones at home that matter", after just winning an OT game against our rival and going undefeated at home last year. This board gets crazier by the day.
