We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Good responses on attendance. My concern is the momentum from one year will never carry over if fans only show up to support known players. This year is likely a look at the future where you're rebuilding year after year, and that leads to some up and down performances to begin the year. We actually had some good wins early, but they were all away from Boone.

If we lose our last 6 conference games, we could end up in 12th

He’s starting to gain confidence and it’s showing. I think once he realizes how dominant he has the potential to be, he’s going to be special. If we hold onto him and Marcus next year, having them both at the 4 and 5 could get ugly for our opponents.

Wilson looked good last night as did Beaubrun. The ball handling was sloppy and careless both ways and the rims played tight last night. There were some good shots that just didn’t fall.

Last night made me think we're on the outside looking in at a top four seed.

All the points above are worth noting. However, I’ll raise a few more.KentHogan wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 6:45 amClearly the team isn’t as good as last year, I’m sure that has something to do with attendance.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 12:19 amI think the Auburn game (with a full house) built early momentum and the JMU game just kept it rolling.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 9:17 pmAdd in that we didn’t look like we’d be competitive early in the season.311neers wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 9:14 pmJust my opinion- probably wrong….
1. We lost 10 guys, some star power. Some that people fell in love with are no longer here. That might hurt the fan base with constant roster turnover.
2. We were a borderline NCAA bubble team all of last year (we almost didnt need to win the Belt to make the tourney). Being in a 1 bid league probably keeps some fans at home since an NCAA birth doesn’t really happen until March.
3. Weird thought, but the football finish and coaching change kinda drug into basketball and morale was down across the entire fanbase.
Really thought we had turned the corner with the students, but there were less than 400 in the student section (and that might be generous)
I also think moving forward it’s becoming harder for fans in general to be emotionally invested in college sports because of all the transfers, NIL etc.
I think that’s especially true for older fans, which could also hit donations.
1) Terrible home conference schedule. 4 home games during Christmas break.
2) Less exciting basketball. Less alley oops, high flying dunks, and blocks compared to last year. A great defense wins games, but it doesn’t always win the attendance.
3) Snow impacted attendance (JMU game, etc).
4) Marketing team hasn’t been consistent. Only began putting effort in the past couple of weeks. Needs to be all season long.
5) You have to win highly marketed games. Great marketing for the ODU home game (Yosef jumping from rafters, Subaru night, etc). Great student attendance. We lost. Students are much less likely to come back after a loss.
Moving forward, would love more exciting home non-conference games. At minimum, one P5 school and/or top regional schools (WCU, UNCC, etc). Very easy to market and create a buzz. Playing High Point, UNCA, and UNCW at neutral sites is neat for nearby alumni, but it does nothing for students and home attendance.

Def Wilson’s best game, great energy on both ends. Hopefully that carries over to next week.

We're still averaging 2.5x the attendance we had before Kerns. It could be better, but still decent considering everything we lost from last year

Will be interesting to see minutes on Saturday vs. Ohio.
Tate, Huntley, and Dodd played 37 minutes last night, all five starters played 25+ minutes with Threadgill at 16 and Wilson at 12.

I understand why Mutilib’s minutes are low, but he seems to have good energy and a high upside. He’s only going to improve with more minutes and could be a scoring threat opposed to someone who’s averaging significant minutes but not a significant scoring threat. But Kerns is going to give minutes to the better defenders. Hope he can get the D side figured out sooner than later.

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 2:31 pmMultilib takes some ill advised shots at times.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 2:22 pmI understand why Mutilib’s minutes are low, but he seems to have good energy and a high upside. He seems to have a good stroke. He just needs to learn court awareness..and when and where to shoot. Seems to have some decent hopsNattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 3:01 pmYou miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 2:31 pmMultilib takes some ill advised shots at times.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 2:22 pmI understand why Mutilib’s minutes are low, but he seems to have good energy and a high upside. True. But shots need to come within the offense. That was the problem with Marsh.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 3:01 pmYou miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 2:31 pmMultilib takes some ill advised shots at times.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 2:22 pmI understand why Mutilib’s minutes are low, but he seems to have good energy and a high upside. We’ve been thru this plenty, I won’t change your mind, you won’t change mine. But, Marsh has the same, if not better numbers and efficiencies than Tate just an FYI. And Tate is a crazy good player. Tate way better on defense.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 3:43 pmTrue. What you were told was a “problem”, might not really be a problem based off the numbers. We’ve got guys that take shots outside the offense plenty of times, it happens.
It would be really fun and we would be a better team with Marsh and Tate as the starting guards. Man, that would be so fun!! One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
