If it's inevitable? Yes. That time is when the casual fans aren't paying attention.

It happens to all teams, especially in non-conference play during the holidays.

Re: App vs Asheville in Hickory
Silver lining, we are 9-3 starting conference play.
We won 9 games total in 2013, 2015 and again in 2016. We have 18 regular season games left, so 11-7 gets us our first 20 win season in 14 years. I honestly think we can win 25+ if we keep our focus and things fall right.
Really love the trajectory of this program.

UNCA was the best team in the Carolinas last night. We happened to be on the other end. UNCW beat Kentucky. It happens. We get them next year at the Asheville Civic Center and will beat them by 20. Jump on or off the bandwagon as you see fit. We have a very good team with a chance to make ‘24 a memorable season. I’m heavily invested and hope to see everyone in Boone a lot this winter! Take the stairs baby !!!

Re: App vs Asheville in Hickory
If Kentucky ends up in the Big Dance and UNCW in the NIT that game will be but a memory and something that Dub fans can hang their hats on. I don't think us losing or winning last night was going to change anything for the post season unless we go nuts and win 27 games or something like that. Who wants JMU to remain undefeated until we play them? Maybe the other 2 will lose by then and we take out the only one.

Re: App vs Asheville in Hickory
I didn't go back and verify these stats but I bet our stats from Auburn looked very similar to our stats from last night. I bet we were close to 50% 3's and Auburn was close to 10% 3's. Last night the opposite. Teams get hot and it is what makes College Basketball tournaments so much fun. It can happen on any given day.ah59396 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 11:11 amThey were 56% from 3 point range. And some of their shot selection was horrible on any other day, but for whatever reason they were all landing. That Banks guy hit one from nearly half court. We didn’t play our best but UNCA probably could have beat anyone in America last night with how hot they were. It’s why even a 16 seed can sometimes upset a 1 when the 3’s are falling.appfanjj wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 11:03 amNot looking to be miserable. Just disappointed and passionate about our team. A loss like last night is harder to take because we are having a good year but lost to a solid D1 team that we are overall better than. We have seen flashes of just how good this team can be and it's frustrating when that team does not show up. Not miserable.
Take the stairs!
This is still a fun team to pull for. They give lots of effort. No whiners on this team.

Yes...it is the same I imagine. Auburn went on a run with blowing by this player with layups.app97 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 10:40 pmif it's the one I'm thinking about, I often get nervous when he's inserted into the game for that very reason. Auburn made their only run to go up by 8 or so points as soon as he came in the game a few weeks ago.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 10:09 pmI have been careful not to call anyone out by name after getting a lashing from a parent, but a certain player on our team is a liability on defense and cannot create his own shot with or without the ball. His hope is that his defender gets tired of standing in one spot and drops down to double team and another player on our team finds a "Standing" open shot. Not a jump shot.

Anyone get the flu over the weekend and the game being the only thing you have done in a crowd in the last week? Sitting here with a 101.4 F temperature.

Wife kids and myself have been working through it. Little one spiked to 104 and got a Christmas Eve hospital visit. They gave her some good stuff and her fever broke sometime this morning. Had Flu A and a non covid 19 corona virus. A bunch of nasty stuff going around. We are slowly getting over it. Good luck.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2023 5:18 pmAnyone get the flu over the weekend and the game being the only thing you have done in a crowd in the last week? Re: App vs Asheville in Hickory
I ended up doing a telehealth and the Dr. things I just have the common cold. I have 4 Covid shots and the flu vaccine from October, not that those are 100%. No one else is sick at the house but I did stay away as much as I could from everyone including my pregnant daughter.
Other daughters headed back home this evening instead of tomorrow morning so one can keep an eye on me (and her dog tomorrow.) It is good to have good decent family that will look after you when you feel like crap.
I did stream all 20 episodes of Star Trek: Prodigy today as today was the first day it was on Netflix. So I got that done though at times I was not exactly paying attention.

Wife and daughter got it, but we weren’t at the game in Hickory. It’s just going around like crazy right now. We’ve heard of tons of people with it over the past week. Somehow I haven’t shown symptoms, yet. Just waiting on the inevitable it seems.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2023 5:18 pmAnyone get the flu over the weekend and the game being the only thing you have done in a crowd in the last week? We have friends in Hickory who said their 5th grade son had a bball game cancelled late last week due to the entire opposing team having the flu.
Give 'em hell!

It is everywhere lately it seems. Most of our kids friends have had it middle and high school.

My son plays middle school ball in Hendersonville. Two of the teams they've played girls' teams didn't show up due to flu and strep. A couple more boys teams have been missing multiple starters for the same reason. My son has had flu and strep (even with tonsils removed) since just before winter break. It's rampant.

My 12 year old still gets strep about once a year without tonsils. He used to get it 5-6 times a year.app97 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 1:43 pmMy son plays middle school ball in Hendersonville. Most I've known had the flu even with flu shot, so doesn't sound like it was too effective this year.
