For those who know.....Is Wilson like Butts?
Butts from what I remember was offered in football and basketball and was around the same size. Still playing professionally in Europe I believe.

Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
Not likely to be the starting lineup. DG,Harcum,Abson,CJ and a guard TBD my bet.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 10:04 pmFrom what I have heard, Kerns wants to get a lineup where Huntley plays the 3. If we have Gregory, Mantis, Huntley, Wilson, and Abson as the starting 5.. that is going to cause a lot of problem for many teams in the Sun Belt. And we don't have to eliminate the 3 ball.

I agree. But being able to put CJ at the three against bigger lineups in the league is a desire.Stonewall wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 9:32 amNot likely to be the starting lineup. Stonewall, anything changed with the last open scholarship over the past month? Are we going to eat it or use it? Time running out but portal still active.

I believe that we have 2 open scholarships. I imagine that we will reward them to someone. Whether it be any portal acquisition or a key PWO that deserves it.

Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
Guys, this is my list of active roster players...Brown, Mantis, Gregory, Teasett, Huntley, Abson, Harcum, Tate, Spillers, Strothers, Marsh, Hayes and Wilson? The last I heard was that Kerns had managed to save Teasett from himself and that Carvell was out of the doghouse and back on the roster.
If it's a fact that Kerns still has two open grants, then two of the above players will have to play "out of their own pockets." i doubt that's happening.
Did I somehow miss some roster moves?

Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
Yeah thanks, I finally found that info.
Do we know Walker's status for certain?
My vision issues are making it more and more difficult to locate and read all of the App sports content that's out there.

Nice!! Let’s use them up, don’t get them back. Still have a little time to find a fit.

My apologies. I didn’t pay attention to the thread. We have 2 scholarships for football. I think we are full for basketball.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 5:43 pmNice!! Let’s use them up, don’t get them back. Still have a little time to find a fit.

Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
All good- a lot of activity this off-season for all sports! When Teasett left, that left us with 1 available. Would need confirmation on that but I think that’s where we stand.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 6:31 pmMy apologies. I didn’t pay attention to the thread. We have 2 scholarships for football. Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
We are recruiting for 2024 , 23 is done. Not to say that can't change , given the new reality , but the focus is on conditioning and player development with who we have. This year we break through to 20 wins and make a run at the Championship. My gut feeling anyway.

Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
Kerns also mentioned that to me a while back. He essentially said that Hayes is a "plug and play" guy. I took that with a grain of salt. The kid will obviously have to adjust to the speed of the college game and pump a lot of iron but adding him at 6-9 230 to our bigs roster that includes Abson at 6-9 230, Huntley at 6-11 230 and Wilson at 6-9 + a reported 280 will create some high blood pressure in the SBC. On the other hand, our conference competition hasn't exactly been asleep at the wheel. The league should be stronger across the board.

As long as he shoots better than 40% from the stripe we should be fine.asu66 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 5:10 pmKerns also mentioned that to me a while back. Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
As I have said before, Kerns would love to be able to have rotations where Huntley plays the 3.. Hayes, if he is plug and play, will be able to allow for that.

Re: 2023-24 Roster Breakdown & Wishlist
Huntley at the 3 would be nice for defense and matchups, but worry offensively. Would need both guards in the line up to be able to create shots for themselves and others off the dribble. Harcum probably could be one of those guys, don't know if we have another

Tate will hopefully be another, and I think Strothers has the potential.HurricaneYosef wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 9:12 pmHuntley at the 3 would be nice for defense and matchups, but worry offensively.
