Well, probably not getting at large bid with weak OCC schedule. Will need to finish top 3 in regular season and/or win SBC tournament

Anyone have the backstory how we ended up practicing at Richmond Hill High School south of Savannah for 4 days this past week?
Guess we had to go that far south to get away from the storms.
Didn't they do it last year as well? I thought it was part of their "spring training". Getting off the mountain and trying to get as many field reps as possible.
Makes sense- need the outdoor practice. Didn't know we went this far away to practice for a few days though.

I hope we aren't spending our budget on 4 nights in Richmond Hill as opposed to playing a 3 game set in Fayetteville Arkansas.
Can't complain about budget issues anymore as a reason of not playing the big boys.
Agreed - but looking at the OOC schedule and what sounds like is at stake for the coaching staff - plus an influx of new players, looks like they are trying to ease into this season. I would suspect a winning OOC record and I think the powers to be would be happy if the team achieved a .500 record in conference. That being said I wouldn't put too much stock into the first series win or lose.
Bingo. I think Kermit has 2 years left on his contract? Makes all the sense in the world to me to go get as many OOC wins as possible (especially with our gauntlet of an in-conference schedule) and earn an extension this year instead of having that "contract year" pressure on your shoulders next year. I'd rather go win 35 games while beating Canisius and Presbyterian than win 25 while losing to Arkansas and UNC. Just my opinion. Go earn a 3-4 year extension this year and I think the staff will feel more free to open up the OOC schedule a little bit.
Problem is, we haven't hit 35 wins in 15 years...
If we're guaranteed 35 wins scheduling easy I'm all for it. But we schedule easy and win 25.

If you're going to schedule easy for better odds of an extension, we cant lose to the Queens of the world.

Less than .500 and he may not get his final year.

I don't disagree with you here. After seeing Troy not get an at-large bid last year with 39 wins, 3rd place finish in the league, Non-Con road win against Miss St., and a series win over Coastal, it feels almost impossible to get an at-large bid. Although I do think that this is a 3 or 4 bid league year in and year out. Hope that we're in the conversation come end of May.

The league was very top heavy last year. Troy's NC SOS was 49. NC RPI was 23. League was down last year and it hurt them. Other than the top 4 everyone else had an overall losing record. The SBC has be in the Top 5-6 leagues RPI wise for them to get more than 2 bids consistently.

I think it's a successful year (lots of unknowns) IF they can be in the top half of the league and stay out of single elimination part of the tourney.

Does the athletic department have a site that shows how much money is raised per year for each individual sport? Just seeing how donations faired compared to other programs in the area.

* found it*

The only baseball donations specifically that I could find is from IBACKAPP for 8700. I'm sure there are more just not publicized.

That's enough to pay for hot showers for the week!
Laps for Apps is usually a decent fundraiser.
Baseball deserves more money as it provides us the best odds to reach postseason.

Each sport has its own fund that you can directly give to. I’d call the MAF/YC and verify.

We’ve made it.

The smell of fresh cut grass (plastic turf and rubber) is upon us. Cracks of the bat. Pops of the mitt. America’s Pastime!

Go, Fight, Kick Ass!

Just spewed my 2nd cup of coffee.
I do believe our first guy today on the bump is a "crafty lefty". Not much velo but he can pound the zone.
Then a 6'5 heat thrower tomorrow.
Excited to see what we have on the mound.

That could be a nasty 1-2 punch for opposing hitters to get use to.

Hopefully, "crafty" means ball movement. If not much velocity...could be a Bad News Bears situation before they found the girl ace.

SHOULD take 2/3 this weekend. Either way it's the 1st weekend - just come out without injuries and keep the ERA near 5

They are from Buffalo - if they got outside more than 3 times to practice I'd be surprised.
