Kermit gets into the lineup a little. Not so much on the arms.
Sounds like Church might play some right and lead off- on base machine.
Smiley behind the plate when Church is in right.
If I had to take a stab at the lineup based off what Kermit said…
Church RF/C
Correa 1B-
Figueroa LF?
Miller DH
Smiley C
McCammon 3B
Xuereb SS
Zamora 2B
Evans CF
Pitching guesses- no clue where we are with arms…
Cross- Friday
Marks- Sat
Wilson or Welch Sunday
How’s the weather been in Hickory? Hope they have the tarp on!!!

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Any chance we might move the games further Southeast to Charlotte (Queens?). Do they even have a home park?
Would hate for opening weekend to get rained out.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Queens play their home games at Carolina Metro Park near the airport in Charlotte. It's a grass field so conditions would be the same at best, but likely worse since Hickory is built to pro standards.

Can they get a DH in on Friday? Opening day DH would be great. Looks like a wash for the weekend.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
I didnt say that it couldn’t be done. Said it’s seems like a lot. 27 innings in a little over 24 hours is a lot to ask of a pitching staff in its first weekend of competition. Especially in colder temps and moisture in the air which creates a heavier ball. That seems like a big risk limited reward for opening weekend against a non conference opponent. Just my opinion.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 9:59 amWhy? Couple other locals teams are doing it. Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Actually when agreed upon DH's can be two 9's. One 7 and a 9 or two 7's. Plus the new experimental 10 run rule can be used. Not just on Sundays anymore. The teams coming down want to get as many innings as possible. Cold is a relative term.
It seems like the majority of schools in the area are doing it and they are not too concerned plus arms are fresh and you can go into the pens a little further to see what you have.
GW and HP are playing 4 in three day. Don't think that will happen because of the rain but it's been done for years.
Heck WF has a DH Friday and Saturday

Not disagreeing with you just providing rationale as to why we may not be doing it.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 10:37 amActually when agreed upon DH's can be two 9's. Need to find a way to play 2 tomorrow. Sat/Sun look absolutely miserable. Get 2 in while you can.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 10:37 amActually when agreed upon DH's can be two 9's. I thought we were building a dome for our stadium? Wasn't that supposed to be built with the covered escalator up to the Greenwood lot?

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Over on 247 they don't think it will happen because they don't want overextend or get people hurt. There are some nagging stuff. I don't adhere to the taking it easy out of the gate. At least 7 teams including Acc teams are playing 2 tomorrow with some teams trying to get 4 in this weekend. I'll probably get grief for this take as well.311neers wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 12:58 pmNeed to find a way to play 2 tomorrow. Sat/Sun look absolutely miserable. The only valid reason I can see is because both team are local and there's a chance to make some games up at a later date but most times this is not the case.

Thanks for the intel, I don’t check 247 much, seems like a lack of involvement and info over there.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 5:08 pmOver on 247 they don't think it will happen because they don't want overextend or get people hurt. That doesn’t make me feel good about the season. That’s not like us to not want to play ball. We’ve got a great opportunity to play 2 in the sun tomorrow but won’t because it’s a risk of injury and we’ve got nagging injuries?
You’re right, maybe we’re already talking to them about rescheduling…but we rarely reschedule I feel like, especially late in the year.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Does the town of hickory have TV capabilities in the community so the game will be available on ESPN+?
.
Just kidding. I lived there once upon a time. Enjoyed it.
Will games be televised?
