We did achieve the 20 win plateau two weeks earlier than last years squad.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 8:24 amMust admit for the last couple years this team gets better as the season progresses, hope they keep the train rolling.

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
What is the difference between RPI and SOS? The "live" statistics show APPs NC RPI at 52 (very good) but NC SOS at 243 (bad). Does that mean the teams in the NC play tough opponents but because maybe their records aren't good the SOS is lower? The overall RPI is 82 and SOS is 135. Just confused.

I think it means there are too many nerds getting involved in figuring out how good a baseball team is without actually watching them.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 9:03 amWhat is the difference between RPI and SOS? Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
It’s similar to the NET system in basketball… four Quads…..quad four losses are bad and probably worse than quad one wins….. NC Record=no conference record, SOS stregnth of Schedule…. there is a formula in figuring out the soup….can’t just go by a teams record…… the SOS is is important .., ours is in the 130’s….. CC, JMU, ULL, GAST, GASO, ODU are in the low to mid double digits……three of our final four series are against them so we’ll have our chance.

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
They most likely played a series v a big team early in the year where we did not. The game against Wake will bump our NC SOS up some.AppFan11 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 11:48 amIt’s similar to the NET system in basketball… four Quads…..quad four losses are bad and probably worse than quad one wins….. Man, we need to payback Wake in a bad way. Football, then basketball, then Spillers. If Tujetsch pitches like last night we’ve got a shot. Wake got smoked by Elon yesterday! 9-0

This is a really good site and link for RPI stuff. Here’s our team RPI sheet. JMU still in the 20s. We missed a huge opportunity there and it was away.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 9:03 amWhat is the difference between RPI and SOS? Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
D1 baseball just put out a field of 64 projection.
https://d1baseball.com/postseason/2024- ... -april-24/
LaLa- 2 seed
Southern Miss- 3 seed
Coastal- 1 seed hosting
JMU- 3 seed
No mention of Troy but they're still in the hunt.
We've got the next best overall record in the SBC behind those 5 teams. Who knows, get hot at the right time!

I know money is an issue but I could get behind giving money to making our broadcasts on ESPN better. It is embarrassing compared to others. Football, basketball and baseball. I think it reflects on the brand.

I'm not in agreement for football - David Jackson and Avery Hall - not sure we could ever find better -

With exception of football, I play Spotify music and TV volume in zero. Hard to listen to bball and basketball.
For baseball, I wish we had more cameras to get more shots.. although Arky state facilities may not have been great, they had more cameras or seemed. I have not watched all locations...but seem to remember LaLa having a good showing on ESPN+

CC spends like $4M on baseball ULL like $2.7….. Apps is like a little over $1M….. I personally think JMU guys were the best I heard this season and they regularly used the velo speeds…. I think Mat Present does a nice job……

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
I try not to complain too much about the broadcast because anything is better than nothing. But I agree on the production quality - it's lacking. I'd put it last of all productions that we've been on this year. A couple more camera angles and a showing some replays, especially on a call that's being reviewed, would be very nice to have.

Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
Georgia State baseball stadium is an absolute joke. SBC needs to force Ark State and Ga State to improve the facilities. The Beav looks like Fenway compared to these.
