With the return of all those super seniors and the recruiting class we just signed, I am more optimistic about App Baseball than I've been in a long time! Go Apps!

My gf and I are likely going to take in this game before the game. Anyone else thinking of going? Vs. Wofford at 11am.

Love all these fall commits. They must love the field and scenery. Hopefully no one is taking visits in december-march haha

What type of season/record do we need to see to have coach re-upped?

Above .500 for a short term extension .Something program changing for more, like an NCAA bid.

It feels like we are building some ties to the ECU program. I wonder if we do indeed go searching, that our next coach could come from there...

We got some of their guys who wanted more PT and we had recruited but lost to ECU.I don't know or expect that there's more to it than that.

40 days until 1st pitch. The smell of fresh cut grass (cleanly raked turf), ballpark franks, and cold beer is nearing.

Can anyone take a stab at lineup/rotation? Or still a little too early?

Almost baseball cap season! Looks like the team got some cool headbands/bandanas for those with long hair to rock according to the latest Instagram post. Getting me excited for baseball seeing all this content. Leaves on the trees yet?!? ha!!!

Kermit Smith record at each of his 3 coaching stops:

Belmont Abbey: 235-225-1 - .509 winning percentage
Lander: 244-137 - .640 winning percentage
App State: 110-172 - .390 winning percentage

Career: 589-534-1 - .524 winning percentage

Excluding the 17 game Covid season Kermit Smith has not led a winning season in Boone and has only had one winning conference record (11-10 in 2021).

Prediction: Kermit gets 1 more season to have a + .500 season or he's gone.

With the incoming group Kermit has recruited (both freshmen and transfers) and the super seniors returning, I feel VERY good about App having a winning record this spring. I'm no authority on these things, but I've never seen a group this impressive coming in at App.

Agreed.

Our biggest problem is the conference in which we play. These guys play big boy baseball. Plus, our out-of-conference schedule isn’t quite as tough as last year but still pretty stout.
