Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
I've been a baseball guy most of my life. Admittedly I've only done kid baseball and watched my boys through high school. I've seen major league pitchers (starters) come in and pitch playoff games even after a few days of pitching their own games. In those situations it's all hands on deck especially if you lose and go home. That being said if Hamilton is simply gassed and his arm is toast you don't use him tomorrow. If he's got 40 pitches in him you throw him a few innings if needed.

If we see Hamilton tomorrow I would imagine it would be for an inning max. I have a feeling we will see a couple guys who haven’t thrown all tournament. Maybe Eli Ellington has one last good outing in him. Good news is Steensma got a rest day so we could extend him tomorrow

That win should solidify us in the top 100 rpi for the year. Unless we face Georgia State and lose. I would think we will be playing a top 50 team next. If Texas State takes care of Georgia State, none of the Sunbelt should be falling too much. Coastal probably would fall the most but stay top 20.

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
Got to be Wilson to start. Followed by Welch Brooks Steensma if it’s close. If not, the usual suspects- Sleeper, Beaty, Ellington. Really missing Cross/Tujestch right now. Chirico has been solid.Appstate35 wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 12:24 pmIf we see Hamilton tomorrow I would imagine it would be for an inning max. Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
Yup, hoping he can get thru 2-3 unscathed and then we turn it to the horses. Only guys that aren’t avail are probably LaSpa and Chirico. But even then, I’d be fine dialing up either one of those if needed. All hands on deck!!AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 1:17 pm30 pitches. 40 max.Appstate35 wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 1:07 pmI would have Wilson on a shorter than short leash311neers wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 1:02 pmGot to be Wilson to start. Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
I don't disagree a lot with what 311 said... essentially Brooks didn't pitch much 8 pitches. I might consider starting Brooks, he has more tread left than Wilson and his opposing batting avg .190 compared to Wilson's .324..... if I could get four innings from him then maybe Wilson in relief. I really like Brooks movement on his fastball. Ellington is kind of a wild card. We still have plenty of arms for relief. Obviously, Welch could maybe start too. Outside of Welch, our strikes-to-balls ratio is below average.

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
I'd imagine Hamilton, Welch, Chirico, and LaSplauto are out for tomorrow unless its an absolute emergency situation. The first three all threw over 70 pitches, and you'd like to have them available for hopefully two games on Saturday. Grey has pitched both games for a total of 50+ pitches so ideally you'd like him to get a day off as well.
That still leaves Wilson, Sleeper, Brooks, and Steensma as your best available for tomorrow.

When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
Yes JT, my bad... when I was looking at the pitch counts I inadvertently took Welch"s strikes not the total pitches so definitely Welch is out.

Once again, Troy wakes up in the 8th inning. Now tied 6-6 with Southern Miss.
