Perhaps 'cause we're 15-26 with losing records both home & away. That's bloody terrible! Nothing "great" in sight!

FWIW, I love every kid and every coach in our program and want the best of everything for them.

Our baseball program is fully funded. That's NCAA-speak meaning that App offers the D-I baseball maximum of 11.7 scholarships which can be divided among a maximum of 27 players. We have a fine baseball facility and access to an indoor practice facility. I don't subscribe to the "cold weather school" excuse for our low winning percentage because we play and lose to other cold weather teams about every year. It's about talent (recruiting) and coaching (player development) and the job just isn't getting done to an acceptable level of success. I'm not into coach firings with this mini-rant, but I am strongly implying that some of the things our folks are doing aren't working. It's high time that they try some new and/or different approaches to see if they can turn the good ship around for next season.

For the record, I know that we aren't Mississippi State or Vanderbilt or Michigan or Florida or UNC or Wake or even Coastal Carolina...but we can be App State with a much more respectable and competitive program than is the case now.

Pardon the sarcasm, Stonewall, but our baseball program is doing a hell of a lot better than our (non-existent) soccer program. Oh, that's right our soccer team is undefeated 0-0. As I stated, pardon the sarcasm.

As to our baseball program, what do you and asu66(Chuck) specifically suggest we do?

The "cold weather" isn't an excuse - it is a reality --- as I have said several times it doesn't mean that App can't be competitive but to blow it off as just an excuse is ignoring something this is there every year and will continue to be there every year - absolutely teams from a cold climate can have successful seasons but I can't think of one of these programs that can sustain that year in and year out - if there is one (say a Notre Dame) they have much more to offer than a scholarship, and much more to work with, such as nationwide recruiting, etc.

We, as fans and supporters, can voice disappointment without having answers. The people who get paid and in charge are responsible for having the answers. Nobody has said anything here that is incorrect or out of line. We got beat badly by a bad team.

Are you suggesting we swap them out?

If cold weather was a reason not an excuse App teams would start slow and come on strong the second half of the season.

I do not believe to the point is we do not play well in cold weather and play well in warm weather. I believe the idea is that it is more difficult to get good recruits to come to play on the mountain because of the colder temps for more months of the year.
How many D1 baseball teams are consistently good that are located in the mountains?...or in traditionally colder areas in spring.... northeast. Not many.

A few things wrong with your post. We are not fully funded and we have not lost to a cold weather team in years unless you want to count Kentucky or Michigan State in 2019.

Exactly - it affects the recruiting year after year - doesn't necessarily mean the players can't produce once in Boone

The Eighth did us in, had a chance to take the lead with runners on base and left them there.GSU then smacks it around in the bottom and basically seals it. Whatever the reason , we have taken a step back so far this season with time running out .

Doesn't help when you don't have a single healthy starting pitcher. You're handcuffed to start the game

We start the day 1/2 game out of ninth and 1/2 game out of last. ULM, App, UTA, and StAte are all bunched at the bottom of the conference. ULM 6-16-1, App and UTA 6-17, State 5-17.
