Baseball threads have gone silent?
Seems like the baseball threads have vanished all the sudden. There was no discussion at all about the series with Texas State last weekend, barely a mention of the game against Wake Tuesday and now we have an upcoming series with Georgia Southern.
Texas State is a very good team and App played them really tough last week. One point loss on Saturday and a 3-0 win on Sunday.
Let's go Apps! This is a winnable series!

All people want to do 60% of the time is post on the board to complain about something or pretend they have insider information about something related to App athletics.
Not surprised....do see baseball making strides and believe that will continue! It was a shame that Pollard and co. did so much good and then BOOM Jones just torched it all.

I still follow them and think they're right on the brink of turning things around in a big way, but we're just not consistent enough to keep the buzz going. As with mens basketball, win and they'll come. That said, beat the stink.

Re: Baseball threads have gone silent?
It's hard for folks to be excited about progress and exceeding expectations when we are used to winning championships in football (being a "football school") but the baseball team is definitely showing significant improvement over last year and I think we will wind up exceeding the "cellar" predictions at the beginning of the year. You're right about consistency but if they continue to improve I'm hoping we can pull some upsets. Texas State is one of the better teams in the conference and I think we gave them all they could handle last weekend. The team doesn't give up.

Recruiting gaps with pitching and LH/switch hitters really put us behind with the last regime. Kermit is building this back and correcting with the last couple of classes. Results will follow but they are still very young.
Beat the stink!!

Re: Baseball threads have gone silent?
Baseball is not as popular as football and basketball in most fan bases. Add that to the fact the team has not been the greatest lately, and the result is you have a bunch of people only posting about the upcoming football season.

Yes, all valid points. Honestly the board in general is kind of dead but it is "that time of year" I guess.

Not necessarily a sweep, however, winning the series would probably work. A sweep would be great though!

Re: Baseball threads have gone silent?
Why wasn't Sprinkle taken out before the score became 0-3? I'll probably catch hell for this, however, I've seen this situation many times this season. Once it's apparent a pitcher is getting tired he is kept in until multiple runs have been scored. In my humble opinion we seem to make pitching changes way to slow and it's cost us over and over.

Re: Baseball threads have gone silent?
Isn't pitching depth still a weakness? I'm thinking that's probably why we are slow to make changes, especially early in a series.

Didn't realize it was an excuse. It's an acknowledgment of a weakness that explains a decision. I don't know if that's the reason or not, but seems to make sense.

He had a perfect game into the 6th. It happened quickly and 2 runs scored because an inning ending ground out hit the umpire and extended the inning. It wasn't that slow.
