Gave another one away!mtnjax wrote:Stink wins 8-7. We seriously need 4+ run leads in the 9th if Marcello comes in
Re: GSU Series
what really make this tough to watch was Marcello kept getting ahead of the batters but could not put them away, normally, always great to win a series, but this ones stings alitte, question for any one at the game, what was the attendence?

Re: GSU Series
Marcelo in his last two home outings has been atrocious. The Cornell game and then today. I love Coach Jones and think he has done a great job but he needs to learn how to finish off games. Today he had the opportunity and he put in a guy (Marcelo) who is a headcase. We just cannot keep giving games away in conference play. Also it did not help us at all that we made 4 errors.
Marcelo's main issue right now though is that he has zero command and even his strikes are borderline. Opponents know he has no confidence in his offspeed pitches so they just sit dead-red fastball. If you have been around the game long enough, it is not to hard to hit a dead red fastball and hit it hard.

Re: GSU Series
Wilson got us out of a jam and pitched great ball for 1.2 innings. Would've liked to see him get a chance to get the last 3 outs. Disappointing is an understatement.

Re: GSU Series
Wilson would've been a huge asset out of pen last year. Team would've won the regional if we would have performed last year like he is now. But the coach tried to mess with his arm slot and curveball and he lost all his stuff.

The series win was huge for sure and it helped us inch closer to the top of the conference, but the win today would have been even bigger. hopefully we'll keep learning from these games and grow. getting Leach and Zumbrook back will be a big boost. hopefully that happens soon too

Dimock has hit like .400 in zumbrooks absence. And thrown a runner out. He's actually been playing better than Zumbrook wasmtnjax wrote:The series win was huge for sure and it helped us inch closer to the top of the conference, but the win today would have been even bigger. hopefully we'll keep learning from these games and grow. getting Leach and Zumbrook back will be a big boost. hopefully that happens soon too

Sloppy finish but a series win. Gave this one away. It's now very concerning in April, we don't have a 3rd weekend guy who can go 7+ innings??

No we don't. That's what can happen when you lose two draft guys that both threw 100 innings last year. It's hard to immediately replace guys that valuable. Sam and Nunn have done a heck of a job making a big loss seem less significant.
I say this next statement in 100% seriousness. Had Sam Agnew-wieland or Nunn been our 3rd starter last year, and pitched this good, the team would have gone to the College World Series. That's how good our staff was, and that's how good those two guys have been this year. We has two sec/acc caliber starters last year. App baseball is here to stay boys

Re: GSU Series
Attendance was 600+. Very wrong to bring Marcello in. Wilson was in a groove. Shermer missed Rob's warmup throws and when he got back I told him I had a very, very, very bad feeling. Rob got one warmup near the plate, threw one high to the backstop and had two others that were so outside that our catcher could not get a glove on them. Jones should have went out and took him out after warmups if that is legal. One thing GSU did all weekend was to go to the opposite field on outside pitches. Our guys tried to pull everything and did not cut down on their swings. We also swung at the first pitch many times after a pitching change instead of seeing the guys motion and release point.
