https://d1baseball.com/postseason/2024- ... ons-may-8/

5 Sun Belt teams in the field of 64. This conference is really good!

Louisiana 2 seed
Coastal 3 seed- need y'all to finish strong to get our Q1 wins back.
Southern Miss 3 seed
Troy 2 seed
JMU 3 seed (Man, I want that series back bad).

Roger, it could happen. Just go 1-0 each day and win both series!

The pitchers just have to be average (for the most part) and good things can come.

We will need to be able to hit their lefties. Moving Steensma to #1 was the right move… wish it would have happened sooner. This is the best pitching staff in the SunBelt so it puts the … best hitting team vs the best pitching team…. as was described in 247, they have hit better scored more runs at home and took three series from higher RPI teams… all at home… that is what better pitching can do. We will have to be more patient at the plate… move runners over…..keep the errors to a minimum. I’d think we could win the game like 7 or 8 -4….. but it will all start with making better contact at the plate against their lefties.

Yea that too…. Steensma is usually pretty good with strike to walk ratio…. and ODU has no .300 hitters….. they really play small ball… steal and get singles…

So here is a thought that I have been pondering regarding the lack of strikes being thrown. I’ve started to wonder if the aggressive defensive shifts are attributing to the number of balls versus strikes. When you shift your defense to a heavy side, you need your pitcher to hit spots that induce a batted ball into the shift. That essentially cuts the plate in half and maybe they are aiming instead of throwing. One of the worst things that a pitcher can do is aim a pitch. It rarely works out. Thoughts?

I don’t have a problem with Steensma at 1 or 2. At 1 it gets your best arm out there to possibly get you a 1-0 lead. Conversely, as the #2 and dependent on the Friday outcome, he can either win you a series or tie it up going into the rubber match. Steensma is as good if not better than anyone else’s #2. Wilson can be good enough to beat most 1’s. He’s just not as consistent.

Botched that inning with men on 2nd and 3rd 1 out-no runs. Making the pitcher work, but need to score when given chances.

Kermit's face when Quintero was walking towards him was priceless.

The last three may have gone 120' each. Just tough luck for Jackson.

What was Kermit’s reaction to bunting with our .375 average hitter up with 2 men on immediately after a base running blunder? Haha
